Quote from sportwarrior on April 25, 2018, 2:51 amTatis finally clawed himself back to the Mendoza line with a pair of dingers out of the lead-off spot. Maybe that'll quiet down some of the chicken littles out there.
Also, has my boy Reggie Lawson figured something out? He's been very on point so far this season.

He threw a bullpen session yesterday. We've gotten a variety of non-answers on timeline from a variety of folks. I think the most honest answer was that they'd see how his finger looked today and make some decisions.
Once the finger is okay, it really comes down to whether they want to let him face a few batters, either in live BP or in XST, before they activate him, or if they're content to let him go right back out. If it's good to go now, they might send him right back into games. If he has an issue with it and needs another shut-down period, he probably gets batters before a game.
But none of that is in stone.

Your avatar is the exact same one I had on the old boards and fully intended on using here on the new boards (and completely forgot). Every time I see it I think "wait, I didn't post this..."
Haha, sorry for the confusion.

Quote from TinFriar on April 26, 2018, 12:32 pmAnyone heard anything about Luis Almanzar?
I am heading up to Elsinore this Saturday, fingers are crossed that Baez is pitching.

Saw Almanzar in spring training. He was healthy and playing regularly. I suspect (and this is my own inference, not something anyone in the organization has said) that he sort of assumed that he'd be ahead of some other guys in priority for going out to Fort Wayne, and the opportunity to spend a few extra months in scenic Peoria was to remind him that everyone will be expected to compete.

Nope, definitely not. 18K's in his last 10 games.
Top of April -
- Naylor
- Lawson
- Austin Allen
- Jeisson Rosario
- Javy Guerra
- Lauer
- Potts
- Eguy Rosario
- Margevicius
- Reed
Right now I see Margevicius getting 10ish starts then moving to LE coinciding with Baez moving.

Not a bad group to be watching!
I might even put Lawson at the top of the list, but I've not yet seen one of his starts (next week). He had a really aggressive assignment and has responded by striking out 30% of hitters, barely walking one per nine innings, and breaking out a new pitch.
I'd definitely want to see Guerra's K rate drop below 30% before putting him that high. Franmil Reyes has been almost as productive in the early going, but is doing it while showing better plate discipline and swinging through fewer pitches.
While Reed's production thus far has been better, the underlying performance from Olivares is stronger across the board and Buddy's not going to continue to hit .500 on balls in play.
Eguy Rosario's start has to be among the more promising in the system, though (like Potts), he'll need to start to draw more walks. Both were slow to get their first ones, but are stabilizing a bit now.
Tirso is drawing walks, not striking out, and hitting the ball for power. I'd drop him into the list as well.

I am heading up to Elsinore this Saturday, fingers are crossed that Baez is pitching.
By the way, missed responding to the second half.
Baez is going Sunday.
Avila, Bachar, Baez for the three-game home"stand." Still sounds like Paddack should join some time next week.
