Personally saw him hit 99 mph on more than one occasion. He's going to be an easy triple-digit guy. His entire offspeed mix is already above-average to plus. #Padres https://t.co/ZO8jS1EUai

Quote from Brian Connelly on December 14, 2018, 7:33 amOK... I thought there was going to be a revolt putting Logan Allen in the big 3 team trade, so named Patino instead.
Let's keep Patino the best prospect in baseball instead & put in Logan Allen...

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 14, 2018, 7:38 am"We" can put anything we want...obviously its just for fun.
I don't think anyone is proclaiming Patino a top 5 prospect but he hasn't been a pitcher very long.
He's come a LONG way in a couple years on the mound.
My only point is that "right now" his reputation and his prospect ranking doesn't come close to representing his "actual" value.
Again.....IMO.
So hypothetically...if you "knew" he would crack the top 50 next year would you believe you were getting fair value for him if you traded him now?

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 14, 2018, 7:40 amAlso,I believe the reason we haven't completed any trades yet is because AJ "is" putting a high value on our guys....and rightfully so.
Teams are demanding Tatis/Gore/Urias and he isn't budging.
I do wonder who else(Patino/Paddack/Allen) he isn't willing to include?
But you gotta give up something of value if you want a #1 starter.

Quote from fenn68 on December 14, 2018, 8:55 amGiving value for a #1 starter is a clear must but have to consider the seller's view of needs / value and the buyer's view of value / needs. I would expect that is a hang-up in making a match for Syndergaard with any team.
NYM are making no bones about wanting to contend (win) NOW, so trading 3 years control on a comparatively low cost top of the rotation SP makes no sense unless they get greater current value back ... not prospects years out. Padres only have prospects to deal but nothing on the ML side to offset the loss of his 4.2 WAR.
SD on the other hand ... even if they could move top prospects ... they get a top of the rotation SP for only 3 years ...2019 on track for another losing season ... 2020 (depending on who is traded) is a long shot to even be .500 but to contend even longer shot ... s0 MAYBE 2021 the team actually benefits from Syndergaard (if he is still healthy). So if they consider Syndergaard value condensed into 1 year of contention ... not sure they would be willing to move a bundle of top line prospects for that.
To me I can't see a direct NYM - SD trade match given their objectives. That is why the 3 - way deal makes more sense. However, the one report is that Miami wanted at least two of these three: Nimmo; Conforto; and Rosario plus a prospect. No way NYM makes that deal giving up starting corner OF and/or the starting SS. Everyone is saying Miami is shooting extremely high which may be blocking any Realmuto deal (LAD, CINN, NYM, HOU ...)
I like the Padres' prospects and except for Tatis ... don't think any measure up to the show piece Miami wants as the key. Looks like the want ML ready high quality pieces. So maybe that 3 way deal will not work with Miami being the roadblock. I moving my money on the LAD ... WS contender / ton of high level prospects / some quality excess at the ML level / and not much for 2019 at catcher.

This kid is one of those rare nuggets that has a very high ceiling....do not use him for cannon fodder

Or you could develop a #1 Starter instead of renting one with miles on it

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 14, 2018, 9:18 amBest bet may be to just work separate deals.
Give Miami prospects for Realmuto and then give the Mets Realmuto/Myers/Yates/ for Thor.
Of course that would be a pretty high cost for Thor that way.
