As someone who is often bitten by my phone's autocorrect having a mind of its own... that last sentence is really fantastic! But I'm pretty sure the pitching leans more toward otters though.

I would expect Baez might pick up some velocity on the fastball as the season progresses. Even so, without it 2.25era in his last 8 starts.

Nice little start for X (yes, that will be his nickname from here on out 🙂 ).  2 for 3, 2 BB and a SB.

Haven't heard any news on system roster moves but noticed Scholtens has been moved back to San Antonio and Ramirez is starting for Elsinore tonight, perhaps to ease innings on the staff.

As we noted in the wrap-up today, there was a fair amount of roster shifting behind the activation of Myers and related demotion of Reyes and Rea reaching the end of his 30-day rehab assignment. There will be a bit more churn when Hedges comes off the DL today or tomorrow.

For now, though:

Myers and Maton to the big club from the DL

Reyes down to EP as a result. Rea activated from the 60-day DL and assigned to EP. [Spot on the 40-man created by shifting Franchy to the 60-day.]

Scholtens and Schulz down from EP to San Antonio

Gerardo Reyes and Deion Tansel down to LE (Tansel not yet technically activated, so there's going to be one additional move to come there)

Austin Smith down to FW

Korey Anderson down to AZL.

Austin Smith down to FW

Even though Austin Smith was Preller's first draft pick, I don't see him being in the system after this year if he continues down the same path.

Well, since the current path leads to Tri-City and then Peoria...

What does anyone know about Tucupita Marcano?  I know he was one of the '16 J2's and he is named after his hometown in VZ.  But he looks to have great contact skills (more walks than k's both seasons) and strikes out about 7.5% of the time.  Looks like he was signed as a SS but has been playing 2B.   Do they think he can play the left side of the infield?  Could he be a taller version of Urias?  Hope he can fill out.

He'll move around at second and third, but probably not a shortstop based on body growth. He'll feature prominently in the first of my AZL notes pieces that will go up tomorrow morning.

DSL team looks good so far this year.  15-8 record.  The last few years they've been awful.  Yes, I know, W-L record in these leagues are no great shakes, but I'm sure it helps with the mentality of the team.  Also, yesterday, we had 10 walks!  (also 10 k's though), so there is some bit of patience being taught.

Also noted that the Reds' DSL team has a guy name Fidel Castro...lmfao
