Keith Law put out a top 60 prospect list on The Athletic this morning. He's got Salas all the way up to #4. He's also got Merrill at #9 with Lesko, Snelling and Zavala as honorable mentions.

Thank you!!  I’ve been looking for his list but I’m not subscribed to the Athletic so I couldn’t see it.

Man that’s very encouraging.  Btw, where is Wood on the list?  I’m sure he’s way up there.

He's got Wood at 20. He seems to have some concerns that his size is starting to become more of a hindrance at the plate now that he's in AA.

How far has Hassell dropped?

Completely unlisted, which is pretty unsurprising given how far his performance has fallen since we traded him (.636 OPS this year, .548/.608 OPS at two levels last year).

I am surprised given the limited game work in ACL and not being dominate while returning from TJ.

Must be that his side work is more impressive to the development folks and they see him as ready for work against tougher competition (although expect a very controlled usage).

A good sampling in LE over the remainder of the season will do a lot to set his placement in 2024 and trajectory to the ML.

With Merrill and Salas already apparently ready for the fast track ... hopefully the Padres are seeing (and Lesko is showing) another fast track prospect.

I believe he will be back

Could it have something to do with the pitching coaches in LE?

Hopefully he does well & stays healthy.

He wont.  We didn’t lose much in that trade.

3ip, 0er, 0h, 3bb, 4k in Lesko's A debut.

Lesko looked pretty good in his first start considering his struggles in the ACL.  Had good velocity (95 on his FB per the announcers at MiLB) and threw several nasty change-ups.  Command was in and out, which accounted for his 3 walks and only 24 of 42 pitches registered as strikes (57%).  Nonetheless only 2 balls went to the OF - warning track fly to right in the 1st and a better hit warning track fly to center in the 3rd.  Lesko also made a very good play on a ball hit up the middle and started a 1-6-3 DP.  K's were 3 swing and miss and 1 looking.  I'll take 42 pitches for 3 innings work anytime.

Looked strong and confident on the mound although announcers said the LE pitching coach said Lesko was battling his nerves before the game.  FB seemed to have late movement but would like to see more of his breaking stuff other than the change-up.  I'm sure all that will come as he finishes the season on a limited IP count for the remainder of the season.  With Lesko and Snelling (and Iriarte at SA) can see at least one of these becoming a top of the rotation pitcher.
