Those are definitely Alex Verdugo's AA stats from 2016

Makes the comparison even less valid. Verdugo was 20 years old 6 years ago in the Texas League and hit 13 HRs. Ornelas was 22 last year and hit 7. The trajectory for future success is not the same. At age 20, Ornelas had just finished very poor seasons at Lake Elsinore and the Arizona Rookie League and needed something to get his stroke back. He did hit .248 at Ft. Wayne in 2021 but both there and San Antonio last year his OPS was just at or below league average.
Again, pulling for him as a person but just don't see him ever making his way to the majors.

Oh I agree....was just pointing out that they were his AA stats.
I'm still hoping for Tirso to have a ML career....but he's gotta hit for more power or at least continue to improve his K/BB ratio and OBP.

Seems a lot like Taylor Kohlwey. Solid average and OBP, but will need to find more power to get a shot.

Should be 1st up from class of 22.. my guess is he will be in the 2024 SP rotation mix and get 5 to 10 starts in 24 if not more.. He was an absolute "steal" on draft day..

I like Mazur but very few pitchers can make that adjustment to major league hitters with just one year of experience under their belts. The earliest I'm thinking is 2025 but if the cupboard is truly bare of SP in 2024 with the loss of Darvish and Snell and not so good performances by Martinez, Lugo and a host of other hopefuls, possible that Mazur would get a long look if his 2023 season is exceptional. Would likely have to end 2023 at San Antonio and show well there for this to happen. Have to consider that Preller would likely be going all-in on Ohtani and follow that up with Nola if SP is down to Musgrove and a lot of unproven arms.

I can see a world where LAD and SDP get shutout on Othani (Cubs) and we end up with Urias and The CF from Korea instead of Othani

Padron was the guy credited with getting Azocar and Esteury right and Tirso made real improvements under him last season. Now they’re gonna be together in El Paso.
