Looks like we also signed a 3B / a 2B and a LHP in International signing day 1
LHP
Yovannki Pascual
3B
William Santana
I'll post the rest later ..Looks like in between edits we added more signings
Henry, thank you for posting the names of our Padres intl signings! Unfortunately I get nothing when I Google any of the names on our list outside of Salas. Has anyone found any info or scouting reports on any of these guys? It's like I just got my Christmas present, opened it up, and still have no idea what it is! Frustrating!
These guys are like 16-17yrs old and if not in the top 30 (maybe top 50) almost impossible to find something unless a particular scout or publication does a little "review" since I've posted the link we've gone from Salas + 3 others to Salas + 7 others which at least is giving us depth
Make that +9 others ...everytine I click someone else signs
Definetely not like the mlb draft kids where often there is a bit of info even into the 500's ranked players

Quote from Henry Silvestre on January 15, 2023, 3:20 pmEmil Turbi is a 2023 SS/ with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Orlando, NC who attends Cenapec. Skinny frame with long limbs for size and room to add weight. A primary infielder with a deliberate approach to the baseball, easy foot movements and balanced. Aggressive working through with some hand deepness. Actions play long term. Solid arm strength with more to come as the body fills out. The switch hitter had some upside with barrels skills from both sides. LH-easy process with a small shoulder turn and short stride to start swing. Loose hands and slightly uphill, worked mostly to the opposite field. Some upside as he adds strength. RH-Leg lift and weight gather, attacks with body. Flat bat path with a middle approach. A uptick of twitch from the right side.

Quote from Randy Manese on January 15, 2023, 5:09 pmAlthough most of last year's international money went to since traded Jarlin Susanna, Padres still signed 4 infielders for at least 500K. These were Oliver Cedeno (500K), Rosman Verdugo (700K), Maykol Munoz (900K) and Yendry Rojas (1.3M). Cedeno was injured and got in only 2 games in the Dominican Summer League (DSL) and likely will repeat there in 2023. Verdugo was assigned to the ACL and held his own at age 17, showing some power (7 HRs) but also striking out at a 35.4% rate. May repeat ACL but could be an aggressive placement at LE if shows better plate skills. Munoz, at 18, had a solid year in the DSL and showed good plate discipline so likely ready for the ACL; only current competition seems to be Graham Pauley, 2022 draftee, who might be pushed to LE at age 22. Lastly, Rojas, who played last year at 17 in the DSL, showed a good eye but little power. Because of that big bonus, if he has gained strength since the DSL ended Padres would like to put him in the ACL to start the season but spring training, for most of these teenagers, will determine where they'll play their second season.

Quote from MrPadre19 on January 16, 2023, 6:13 amWhat are the restrictions for prospects to play in the US?
I read somewhere Salas couldn't for a couple years?
That didn't sound right....is it just age and if so...what are the guidelines?

My understanding is that they have to be 17yrs old to play in the US.. Salas turns 17 in June 1st... IF Zavala made it to LE as a 17 yr old..there is no doubt in my mind I will see Salas in LE at some point this summer..
* btw Zavala was the youngest player in A ball down to the month and day..
We have something special "up the middle" brewing.. Zavala/Merrill and Salas.. 2025/2024-25/2027? My ETAs on all 3..can inject ONE in to the lineup for 3 consecutive yrs easy carry by our Fearsome 4some or 3 Musketeers (depending IF we keep all 4, or 3 of the 4 for the next decade +) That type of talent and control type specs is how Padres can sustain this type of Elite talent at the top..

Quote from Jeremy Hill on January 16, 2023, 8:35 amI don't think there are any actual age restrictions after they have signed. They just have to be at least 16 and turn 17 by September 1st of the following year in order to be eligible to sign. I don't think anything would actually stop the Padres from sending Salas straight to affiliate ball if they wanted to. I think teams just prefer to let guys physically develop further and keep them in a comfortable environment to help ease their transition early on.

Do we know if Ethan will be at ST Peoria next month?
