Base on his last 4 starts, giving him more starts may hurt more than help. Not sure want to over stress an arm that is coming off surgery and a long layoff.

Last 3 starts only went 1.2 innings in each giving up a lot of hits and walks. The one just before was just 3 innings also given up a lot of hits and walks.

Maybe sit him for a few weeks (work on the sidelines) and give him another go near the end of the season.

Any chance of seeing Merrill get a taste of FW? He clearly is better than low A ball already and FA does not have a player blocking him from a prospect ceiling standpoint. That might allow an ACL INF to move to LE.

Getting 70-80 AB at a higher level in 2022 might help the transition in 2023.

Earlier, though Baez might go up but he got hit hard lately and may not be so important for him to be promoted.  One surprise promotion may be former infielder Justin Lopez who has done very well in all but 1 of his RP outings.  Don't see anyone else who is ready.

Because of his injury and time lost in recovery/rehab, not expecting Merrill to be promoted despite the fact that his numbers say he is ready.  I'd like him to finish strong in LE in the playoffs and start next year at Ft. Wayne.  It's entirely possible that he could reach San Antonio next year.
