Yup

Padres....Tri City Dust Devils is one of them on the list to go away

Thats unfortunate, love that mascot. Its cool looking.

Certainly rather it stays the same, but I do sometimes wonder about that level in general. Kind of seems to lack identity in terms of development progression. Is anything  accomplished there that could not be in the complexes? Maybe there is a ,"Premier League,"  or something in the desert where the better/more experienced guys play?

There is the economic hit the towns where the teams play will suffer. But MLB relies on an economic model in the lower minors especially that would make Upton Sinclair cringe, so what's a few customer service reps and ticket takers in the grand scheme of things?

Pay the MiLB players already! And don't claim you can't because it would bankrupt the minors franchises, the MLB clubs pay them. A livable wage based on level between $40k and $80k from Rookie ball to AAA is a blip on the ML org budget.  Rookie level would still have dorm style housing and board, so pay amount is relative.

Anyone know anything about this situation?

Dodgers Sign 17-Year-Old Pitchers Francisco Lucumi and Yhonkervix Castillo

This shows the Dodgers signing this prospect and also the Padres signing him a year earlier?

Francisco Lucumi......is he a Padre or Dodger?

or is he a Blue Jay ... from last August (translation for a Columbian news feed):

The Blue Jays also signed the pitcher Francisco Javier Lucumí of Los San Diego Padres, according to 90minutes.

Something lost in translation? Is he signing with everyone? Are there more than one?

I got nothing on the kid you are talking about. But how about the first name on the guy he signed with for LA?  Yhonkervix. He was in the band at the cantina in Star Wars.

So I was thinking...is Potts gonna be in AAA to start next season?

What's everyone's guess?

Was just thinking that trading him now would be underselling while letting him rake in EP might add some worth.

Yes everyone will discount his stats "some" for the league but if he hits 30+ bombs it would only help.

Especially as a 21 year old and he will play the entire 2020 season at 21.

I believe strongly that you don't advance a guy to AAA without him succeeding in AA first.  Exception would be age/running out of control, like Gettys.

Potts was very young for AA, and struggled in 2nd go around in Arizona Fall Lg too.  Think it benefits his development as a prospect to stay in AA.  Buddy Reed too; just hasn't "earned" the right to move up.  Olivares has.

Also,  AAA INF is overflowing:  Zunica, Miller, maybe Cronenworth, Quiroz, Vosler, Mejias-Brean, Ivan Castillo, Matt Batten.  Maybe Ty France, too.  Some have to get pushed back to AA or even all the way out.

I have a feeling Buddy Reed will either get picked up in Rule 5 or he will be PTBNL in one of those trades. It’s too bad because I’ve had really high hopes for Buddy and I actually still believe in him. If we don’t lose him I could see one of TT or Buddy moved up to AAA quickly if either starts hot in AA. IMO Potts plays a full season in AA.

Buddy Reed is a guy that could emerge post-hype, but he's at a severe disadvantage considering his baseball skills are still lagging well behind his age. He's already 24 and still struggling with his swing and approach at the plate. While I'd bet money he isn't selected via Rule 5, I also wouldn't really care too much if he was.

I get it and agree....somewhat.

Except AAA in EP is a bit different.

Forget “deserving”......what’s best for The Padres?

Potts has nowhere to go.

He isn’t playing 3B at the ML level unless there’s a catastrophe.

Do they change positions?

If not.....put him in EP and trade him at the deadline(if we’re in contention) after he goes 300.380.500 with 20 HR’s by June.

If we’re gonna have a launching pad for our AAA affiliate we may as well use it to our advantage.😉

100% agree Mr. P. I don’t see Potts being part of our future.
