Michel Baez
Quote from LynchMob on June 17, 2019, 9:58 amFrom today's DFR ...
Michel Baez got one extra day off between outings, but worked two more scoreless innings to finish out the first half. The big man allowed a hit and walk, but struck out three more and continues to whiff a third of batters he faces. He’ll be Rule 5 eligible this winter and, with the big league team still trying to figure out how to cobble together 800 innings of pitching before the end of the season, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get a cameo in a multi-inning role later in the year.

Padres RHP prospect Michel Baez picked up a two-inning save on Tuesday for Double-A Amarillo.
Baez, 23, allowed just two hits, and he struck out two without walking anyone. In his 13 games in 2019, he owns an ERA of 2.31, and he's struck out 35 hitters against 11 walks in his 23 1/3 innings. The 6-foot-8 right-hander has pitched exclusively in a relief role this year, and while he has the stuff to be a starter, it could be his long-term role. If he's not a closer that will obviously hurt his fantasy value, but his ability to miss bats with decent command could still make him relevant. He also could be a starter long-term, so either way, Baez is an arm that must be monitored going forward. He should help the Padres in 2020.

Quote from JasonE135 on September 15, 2019, 4:26 pmBaez averages 96 but he gets up to 99. He is also 6'8" tall which makes it much harder to hit. He seems to be a fastball/changeup guy currently, with an occasional low-spin curveball. The changeup seems to be enough for now as his ERA is under 3.00. They say he used to have an above average to plus slider but he hasn't used it since he has gotten to the majors. He needs to get that pitch back!

Michel Baez hurled two hitless innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Baez drew a spot start in the Padres’ season finale and racked up four strikeouts over two scoreless frames. The hard-throwing 23-year-old rookie right-hander needs to refine his control, but there's some big-time fantasy potential here if he puts it all together. He finishes the season with a 3.03 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 28/14 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings at the major-league level.

Corey (Amarillo):
Thoughts on Michel Baez reporting to camp as a starter in 2020? El Paso rotation opening day?
Kyle Glaser: The Padres still hold out some hope he can start. Depending on if he's healthy (he's missed the start of every season since he signed with injuries) and what the rest of the staff looks like, it's either going to be the Padres bullpen or El Paso rotation for him on Opening Day.

He should have been out of that inning unscathed.

WHY is Pomeranz not pitching?
If Tingler brought in Pagan only because the leadoff hitter was right handed I'm gonna blow a gasket!
Edit:they just said there’s nothing wrong with Pomeranz!
Tingler needs to get his head out of his RH/LH ass!All he thinks about is what arm a pitcher throws with and I’m getting sick of it!

Agree ... the defense had *two* chances to get him out of that inning (the missed DP on bad throw by Cronie, and the missed catch off the heel of Grisham's glove) ...
