Looks like he completely lost the plate, i.e., he got out of rhythm and out of sync with his mechanics. Maybe too long between starts? It seems this has been the concern for the Padres' organization because if he can't hit his spots with his pitches, he becomes very ordinary.

Please tell me we won’t be placing Gore in AAA to start next season?
I’ve been adamant that our top pitching prospects should never seen El Paso.
So what happens?
Gore goes there and struggles and spends an entire season working on command.
EP is where warning track fly balls become tape measure home runs.
So my guess is MG was trying to be too precise and struggled with control.
So now that he is “fixed”,do they send him back to AAA so he may get rocked again or to AA where he can succeed and gain his confidence back?
He was MLB’s top pitching prospect….until he was sent to EP.
Tell me he won’t go through that launching pad again?

Gore did better than his last start 9 days ago, pitching 5 innings and throwing 92 pitches. However, of the 7 hits he gave up 2 were home runs and one was a double plus he uncorked 2 WP's with Seagle as his catcher, so they must have really been off the plate. I'm hoping our new pitching coach can correct his mechanics just like he did for many of the young pitchers that came up through the Cleveland system and prospered over the last decade or so.

You would think Gore was a hot topic subject when interviewing the new Pitching Coach.

If we see Gore traded away before camp, we'll know he was.

I can't see this happening.
It's common knowledge he struggled with command obviously.
He went from Top pitching prospect and in AAA to the instructional leagues.
My guess any GM that gets a call from AJ to discuss a Gore trade would not give up anything of value.
He "has" to have way more value to us in hopes of him regaining what he had a year ago than anything in a trade.
I'm thinking we ride with him and cross our fingers he at least becomes a middle of the rotation guy for a few years and at most a TOR guy for a decade like we originally thought.
He's still young enough you just can't sell at the lowest value possible.
