LAD @ Padres

Can't see them taking either Adams (has not pitched in 12 months) or Castillo (has not pitched in 13 months) off the 45 day IL .... move someone off the 4o man roster (although Yates and Guerra would be easy moves) ... and "experiment" with them in the last 9 games while not allowing the arms who are primed for playoff work to actually get work to keep sharp. Adams would have to stay up for the remainder of the season since he is out of minor league options.

Probably would prefer seeing ABs for some of the secondary position players (if injures happen) .... Mejia, Campusano, Ona and ABs for the return of Pham and Hosmer. So maybe keep all them on the active roster ... some "extra rest" for some starters and an active rotation through DH.

Bullpen day today with Morejon starting. Lucchesi did warm up yesterday ... still could enter today or may lag to Friday. Apparently Paddack will go on Friday but maybe not set up for a long start and Lucchesi (as a LHP) comes in for him?

The main starters get bumped back for extra rest.

Ona starting as DH again today ... Padres really must want to see what they have in him now.

Castro is catching so it could have been Nola .... or the newly recalled Mejia.

We expect Pham to return and likely bump Ona BUT I guess if Pham just is not productive upon his return ... Ona may be a playoff option ... so needs ABs.

Obviously not worried about Tatis long term but man....this has to be messing with his head some.

To be honest he doesn’t really have to come out of this for another 10 days or so.

Unless winning MVP is on his mind anyway.

But as far as this “team” is concerned it’s better it’s happening now as long as he gets back to normal by the time the Playoffs start.

Its not like he’s just been unlucky either...there’s really only been about 3-4 well  hit balls in the last 8 games or so.

ugggh.... I HATE bullpen games.   5th P after 4 1/3 IP....  headed towards Cronenworth's Padres P debut.

Now I'm going to rest my case against bullpen games...

Hard to figure out what Tingler & the Pads plan was here coming into the game...?   I get Richards out of pen to reset top of rotation going into the homestretch, but don't get the main "long" guys Morejon, Lucchesi, & Perdomo all going so short?

Whoever has the hot bat gets the nod.

Neither one will be called upon for their D so whichever bat produces, plays.

I'm pretty sure in a playoff roster decision I'm going with Tommy Pham over Jorge Ona...

I knew when Luchessi came into pitch that this game was FUBAR.....Now I remember why I did not miss him at all

l think we can compete with the Dodgers with starting pitching: Lament, Clevinger, Davies, and Richards. Our bullpen is set. But we are going to need to score more runs than we have the last couple of days. Specifically we are going to need to get offense from Hosmer, Pham, more out of Moreland (no pun intended) than we've seen so far, and a LOT MORE out of Tatis. He is the straw that stirs the drink. But lately, he's been down the drain. Puzzling.
