LAD @ Padres

Fernando needs an “off the end of the bat” double like Betts just had to get him going again.

Nail biter!

Nail biter!

Dodger implosion, nice!

That's the kind of play we would have made in previous years

There can be no disagreement,  Lamet is our true ace we have been searching for since Peavy. Clevenger is a pretty impressive  number 2 and Davis is pitching like a very good number 3.  I wouldn't want to face us in a 3 or 5 game series. I just hope that we hit like we can , no team slump.

Manny and Fernando need to get their heads in the game ... I'm seeing warning lights flashing thru the glare of an 8-game winning streak ...

Or, it could simply be that we have a complete team. And while a couple of players have lulls, the others pick them up. And when all guys are firing on all cylinders, watch out!!

Thought it was a pretty well-played game overall and Dodgers didn't deserve that run in the 9th.   Myers throw from RF looked like it went under the glove of both Cronenworth and Johnson and didn't seem that hard to pick up, so it was a tough error on him.  Manny did get thrown out trying to force that steal but that's part of the aggressive base running Tingler encourages the Padres' runners to do; don't forget Manny got a clutch RBI in this game.  Profar gambled on the infield grounder by Garcia and only a brain fart by Muncy allowed us to score; Profar did make an absolutely beautiful slide, however.  Lamet did have a couple of 4 pitch walks, but otherwise was virtually unhittable; particularly impressive against Betts.  Looking forward to another well-played and well-pitched game tomorrow by the Padres!  Beat LA!

Good game overall ... Lamet looked the part of a #1 facing a #1 in Kershaw.

Machado being thrown out at 3rd was bad baseball. Tingler may want the Padres to be aggressive but he does want them to play smart baseball.

two on ... two out ... Myers at bat (hitting .300) with a chance to extend the lead ... stealing 3rd does little to improve the situation while getting thrown out ends the treat ... Machado ended the threat.

Side: Ona looked a lot better at the plate than I expected ... yes, struck out with a big swing but did not seem intimidated by Kershaw or overmatched for a young player with only limited time in AA in 2019. Maybe some chance for the future RHH DH.

When the Dodgers hit home runs, they can be really tough. But I was surprised how low many of their batting averages are. It seems to me that they are a team that really can't generate runs. Go Padres.

Speaking of Home Runs.....Grisham was awesome last night and it sure pissed off the Dodgers which I found kind of funny.....When the Dodgers are thumping teams with the long ball it's all good but when they get it put in their face they cop a major beef.

Should make for an interesting game two and the question becomes will Grisham end up wearing a pitch or will the umpires put a stop to it before it gets started ?
