The Padres hoped to avoid using Allen, their backup catcher, in that spot, because of some recent ankle trouble Hedges had been dealing with.

Quote from fenn68 on June 15, 2019, 7:32 amSaw a note that Jankowski's cast has come off and he headed to AZ for some extended ST work. Could see a rehab in a few weeks if things go well and be available for activation mid to late July.
He has a minor league option ... so that could be a route to get him additional playing time but that timetable does allow for a return to the 25 man roster if a trade at the deadline opens a spot or injury demands another CF. IF Margot continues to suffer another option is optioning Margot.
Could be some interesting options in late July for CF.

Dinelson Lamet (elbow) allowed four earned runs over five innings in a rehab start Sunday with Triple-A El Paso.
It was his longest rehab outing to date, but it wasn't a very encouraging one. Lamet surrendered four hits, including two home runs, in an eventual 10-7 win for El Paso against the Triple-A affiliate of the Dodgers. Lamet now has a 7.71 ERA through 14 innings (four starts) on the farm and will probably need to post some better results before the Padres consider adding him to their rotation mix. He is 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery.
SOURCE: MiLB.comJun 17, 2019, 10:42 AM ETAnd then the "local" perspective from today's DFR 🙂Dinelson Lamet made the first Triple-A appearance on his rehab assignment, allowing four earned runs over five innings. The hard-throwing righty, who has never been especially fine with his command, threw 49 of 67 pitches for strikes, but missed location in the zone more than he’d like. He gave up a two-out solo shot in the first and and two-run homer in the third, but otherwise kept the Dodgers in check in the offense-happy PCL. Across four outings, the big man has struck out 18 with six walks in 14 innings.

Quote from LynchMob on June 20, 2019, 11:07 amIn case you missed this in today's DFR ... from an AZL game note ...
Bryan Mitchell, who many Padre fans didn’t even know was still in the organization, got the start in his first rehab appearance. While he did allow a run, not allowing a walk is a big improvement.

Jeisson Rosario was activated from the IL and went 1-for-4 in his first game back. The speedy centerfielder was down for the minimum seven days.
LHP Osvaldo Hernandez made his first outing of the season, working a pair of scoreless frames in a rehab outing. The southpaw missed the first half of the season with a non-arm injury. He had worked part-way through a rehab progression once before having to shut down in May, so he will likely work a full build-up in the Arizona League before heading to Lake Elsinore.

Quote from fenn68 on June 30, 2019, 11:05 amGreen the other day that Loup (almost forgot about him) should be back late August, early September. Also, Castillo after having the setback during rehab will be throwing again soon. A week or so ago it was reported that Jankowski was headed to AZ to begin "baseball activities". All three will require roster moves to get them off the 60 day IL ... potentially during July. (Lamet's return is facilitated by the DFA of Wisler).
If those remain on track ... potentially any coming July trades may be biased toward dealing 40 man roster players for non-roster prospects as house cleaning ... maybe 2 roster players for 1 roster player.
Not sure I have seen anything on the potential returns of Cordero (also 60 day IL) or Warren.
Anyone have better insights on the current status of this group?
