From today's DFR ...
RHP Efrain Contreras made his second start of the year and completed three innings. The 22-year-old was knocked around a bit and took the loss. Contreras allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits. The Ciudad Juarez native is working his way back into form after having Tommy John surgery after instructs in 2020.

Efraín Contreras had one of his best outings of the season Friday night, allowing just one earned run over three innings. The 22-year-old has pitched in an abbreviated fashion since returning from 2020 Tommy John surgery on May 6. He has yet to pitch longer than four innings this season. Over his last three starts (eight innings), Contreras has allowed three earned runs.

I think he gets DFA before season ends to be honest... we going to need his 40 man spot

the big news for Padres fans was Efraín Contreras returning to the mound to work two scoreless innings in his first start since July 13. Contreras, who had Tommy John surgery back in late 2020, got underway with the TinCaps in May. He’d worked his way up to five inning appearances in early July, but left his last start with the trainer in the third inning. Overall, the stout 22-year-old has thrown 36.1 innings, striking out 43 but allowing a 5.70 ERA in his first season on the 40-player roster.
