Alright admit it.....some of you thought I had jinxed us didn’t you?

Quote from MrPadre19 on September 8, 2020, 7:19 pmIt’s only the 2nd inning.
Is there a rule that we gotta stop trying or does that not start until later?
Can someone get the Rangers Manager on the line?

Quote from Brian Connelly on September 8, 2020, 11:32 pmWow... 2020 Pads. Down 3-0 1st inning when I went to pick up some dinnner, 10-3 Pads & only 3rd inning when back! Love it!

Quote from Randy Manese on September 9, 2020, 1:04 amLove to get the sweep vs. Colorado but Senzatela has only given up 1 run in 13 innings against us, while Davies has given up 7 in a little over 10 innings, including 3 of his 4 HRs, vs. Colorado. Those games were all in Denver, so hoping we have the home field advantage and our new guys contribute to the victory. Go Padres!

Quote from WindsorUK on September 9, 2020, 4:49 am"Wil Myers takes it out of the yard with one swing of the bat"?????
Does anyone else find Orsillo's calls a bit....odd? Just last week either Machado or Jr. hit a ball into the left field seats, and Orsillo's call was " He's left the building"( and no, it wasn't Jr.'s shot on the top of the Western Metal Supply building)
Not a big fan anyway( sounds too much like a late night infomercial) but it's almost as if he's getting confused or excited( excited is fine) and just flubbing his lines. Granted, you guys get to hear him a great deal more than I do so will most likely have different opinions
Now The Colonel, his gaffes were LEGENDARY ( throwing up in the bullpen, hits his head on the wall, its now rolling back towards the infield, etc....). Dan sounds almost unprepared or new to the business.
Just nit pickin'......
It's cool I can question the broadcaster because our team is so good. Go Pads!

Quote from WindsorUK on September 9, 2020, 4:51 amAre he and Grant actually at the stadium? Or do they broadcast remotely?
Sidenote, was watching the A's broadcast the other day, and Bip Roberts does either a pre-game or post-game show for them. Didn' t realize he had any affiliation with Oakland?

They are at PETCO for both home and away games set up with a series of monitors with different views. I believe all teams are employing the same concept to avoid travel and putting extra bodies in the away ballpark. Not sure but some teams may use a studio set-up rather than the ballpark.
Actually given that limitation for away games .... they seem to make that seem pretty seamless.
A good chance that even after the pandemic passes .... teams will continue to use a version of this remote broadcasting for at least the away games ... saves a lot of money. BEIN sports broadcast the Spanish Football has been doing all their play by play from their studios in Miami for years ... and it works. Actually, at times they use the same announcers in back to back matches played in different cities in Spain.
Baseball may be returning to its roots .... in the early days the local radio broadcasts had the announcers in the local studio and someone at the ballpark sent a telegraph note on each play (e.g. single to right) and the local announcer made up the detail to make the broadcast interesting.

Didn't Ronald Reagan do that? I believe it was for the Cubs?

Quote from Brian Connelly on September 9, 2020, 12:41 pmGotta love Zach Davies. 7 Rockies players have > 10 AB against him: Daniel Murphy-21, Matt Kemp-17, Charlie Blackmon-15, Nolan Arenado-14, Tony Wolters-13, Trevor Story-11, Elias Diaz-11. So the Rockies have "seen" him & know what to expect.
Doesn't matter. Kemp .294 2 HR, 6 RBI & Arenado .286 1 HR, 2 RBI have hit him well. The other 5? All below <.200
It's gotta be SO frustrating to face him & not square up his 87-88 FB. When we first got him in the trade, there was a video clip of Davies just dotting corners of zone, and every batter without fail throwing head back, slamming bat, etc. Kind of SP who would have just destroyed pre-2020 Padres lineups.

Quote from fenn68 on September 9, 2020, 2:37 pmWonder if the Padres' view of Pham's readiness to return is a direct correlation to having to add Almonte / Ona to the 28 man roster.
=====
Annie HeilbrunnTingler said Pham will be out on the field hitting today. Made a "significant jump' yesterday in his grip strength. Said they'll see how today goes, but they're excited. #Padres============Dennis LinTommy Pham will take batting practice on the field today. "He's a tough one to keep locked up very long," Jayce Tingler said.
