Probably doesn't mean jack.
Agree, I would prefer Asuaje in the 2 hole as well.
So thoughts on todays game, two thoughts and Im not sure which one to go with. Either, same old blah SD baseball and they drag down good players they bring in; or, they did a good job hanging with a playoff caliber team for 12 innings and they will learn to make better use of their chances that they squandered today. Anyway, 161 more games!

Quote from Fred on March 29, 2018, 8:18 pmCan Raffy Lopez play any kind of defense? Because I am intrigued by the bat. How many months do we give Hedges before replacing him? He's dead wood. literally.

Till Austin Allen or Luis Campusano are ready? I mean, Lopez is a nice story, but he's 30 years old and has failed to impress at any level. It's really tough to believe he'd suddenly break through and give us numbers at the big league level better than anything he showed in the minors.
Hedges is in a rough patch right now, but he went through a similar one to start last season. He'll come around and give us a little bonus pop with great defense out of the 8 spot until someone better is ready to take his place (someone other than a AAAA player like Lopez)

Quote from Booster SD on March 30, 2018, 11:34 amProbably a bit earlier than desired, it will be fun to see how our farm system starts producing. I think its a good sign that in cause of injury such as this, we can see an upstart rookie get a chance instead of a retread ML guy or a career MiL filling a spot. Hopefully a good sign of things to come for SD and us fans.

Quote from Fred on March 30, 2018, 7:47 pmDid anyone see Lucchesi pitch in Spring Training games? I'm curious if he was pitching lower in the zone than he did the first inning tonight. Maybe it was just jitters.

Quote from MrPadre19 on March 31, 2018, 5:54 amThis ones on me.
I stayed up till 1 am and went to bed when Hand came in with a 3 run lead.
Imagine my surprise when I looked at the box score this morning!
Yikes!

Quote from sportwarrior on March 31, 2018, 12:54 pmRough game last night. Hand gave up a couple soft hits there, but he just didn't look like he was on it from the get go. I honestly wanted to fight Ryan Braun when he flipped that bat, though. Sometimes I feel like I'd be the baseball version of a hockey goon out of the bullpen had I ever been good enough to make it in the bigs...

Quote from TarheelPadre on March 31, 2018, 7:12 pmWould have been nice to trade for Yelich. He is better than any prospect the Padres have right now.
I do not trust this organization to make the right decision when it comes to prospects. We have a track record of giving away the good ones and sticking with the crappy ones.

Almost none of this is accurate or relevant.
1) We have several prospects with higher ceilings than Yelich.
2) What possible relevance do past ownership/management groups have on this one? How does their track record have anything to do with this front office's ability to judge and develop talent?
3) If our track record of trading away the wrong prospects does somehow damn the current FO, then wouldn't that mean we'd be trading our best prospects for Yelich and keeping our worst ones?
4) You're right about trading for Yelich, though. That would have been nice.
