Padres win the pitcher's duel to take game 3 and the series from the Braves and remain undefeated.
Vasquez stepped it up and was outstanding and the BP was solid.
It's time to get out the brooms and go for the sweep.
GO PADRES!

Wow, just Wow! Didn't expect that pitching effort from Vasquez and the BP continues to be amazing. Get our first look at Pivetta tomorrow and hope he continues the example Vasquez set today. Get out the broom - GO PADRES!

I don't know how Arraez will grade out defensively at 1B over the course of the season but in these first three games he has been very good ... well above his reputation as a poor defender. Handled tough throws in the dirt and made that excellent throw to 2B yesterday. He does seem comfortable at 1B.
Also, a lot of kudos to Cronenworth on his play (letting the soft liner drop) with runners on 1st/2nd and starting a double play 4-6-5. Not only the first action to not catch but more the mental alertness to go to 3B to start the double play. No chance he would get the double play on that soft shot if he did what most would do and go to 2B ... the hitter would have easily beat out the return throw to 1B. That is a lot to process in that second that the ball was hit.

Lack of command of splitter, primarily, had batters spitting on it and waiting on the FB. It was also reported that his FB velocity was down several ticks from his performance in Japan. These could be just adjustments to the major league stage, however, there are times when these kinds of issues are signs of a potential underlying arm injury. Sasaki has missed some time the last two years in Japan with an undisclosed arm ailment. Don't wish Sasaki ill, but any break we can pick up over the Dodgers for even a short period of time will help balance out our own injury SP issues.

I like our chances against their #4 and with Estrada/Adam/Suarez available.
