Atlanta Braves at San Diego Padres: March 27-30

PreviousPage 4 of 7Next

Hoping for a split, now hoping for a sweep!  Game 3 won't be easy - hope the Padres' bats are hot in what could be a high scoring affair.   GO PADRES!

Important to put losses on ATL (and SD wins) since it is very likely that ATL will be a prime challenger for the few Wild Card slots and one or two wins may make a difference.

Heading down to Petco for my first game of the season today. Hoping the early winning streak continues.

I hope Vasquez steps it up and is solid. Both King(2.2 IP) and Cease (4.1 IP) were not able to go the distance. Our SP needs to go at least 6-7 innings. Preferrably at least 7 innings.  The Padres already have used their entire BP except for LHP Omar Cruz.

I don't think you can really expect much more than 5 innings out of a starter this early in the year. Guys are still getting stretched out a little bit. Vasquez only went 45 pitches in his last spring start. I would be more than happy with a solid 4 or 5 innings. Anything beyond that would be awesome.

Whoa...relax dude

It's so early...these guys need to build up and complete games are a thing of the past unless the starter has a no hitter going and even then pitch count will dictate. I would prefer the SP to go 6-7 come August/September than now.

Example...today Max Fried had a huge lead for the Yankees and only went 4 2/3 innings and didn't get the win in a 20-9 blowout of the Brewers and later in the season he would have stayed in but his pitch count was up and it's the first week of the season...a win in March vs having him able to pitch down the stretch is a no brainer.

Game 3 Lineup
1. Tatis RF
2. Arraez 1B
3. Machado, 3B
4. Merrill CF
5. Cronenworth 2B
6. Bogaerts SS
7. Sheets DH
8. Heyward LF
9. Maldonado C

We got the 5!  Now ... need to score a run ...

Well Vasquez was awesome. To get through 6 scoreless when the team needed it on a night when he didn't have great command is amazing. Now we need the offense to pick him up.
