Quote from ultratvfan on April 14, 2026, 11:45 amThis is interesting and I know it is early in the season. In the off-season, the Met signed top players such as top SP Freddy Peralta, closer Devin Williams, IF Bo Bichette and OF Luis Roberts Jr. Yet, as of today they have a 7-11 record.

Quote from fenn68 on April 16, 2026, 7:34 amA pair of execs were dismissed by the MLBPA following an international investigation amid a federal probe into the union. MLBPA COO Xavier James and CHRO Michael O'Neill were fired with cause, ESPN reported.
This follows the dismissal of Tony Clark a few months ago.
Not the best situation as the MLBPA heads into the CBA negotiations. Has to have a concerning effect on the ML players and their approach to the new leadership ... and in turn ... approach to negotiations. I guess could go a couple of ways, but optimistically for me, maybe a greater desire to settle quicker (advantage owners?).

Jorge Soler’s suspension has been reduced to four games, and he will begin serving it on Wednesday.Advice: And so ends the Soler suspension drama. The 34-year-old was suspended for seven games last Wednesday, but appealed the suspension and continued playing. While fantasy managers waited to see when the suspension would be official, Soler went 6-for-29 with three home runs, eight RBI, and six runs scored. Soler can return on Sunday against the Padres

Rookie Catcher Dalton Rushing is playing in his 6th game of the season….he now has 5 HR’s with a cool 1.971 OPS
🙄

Quote from fenn68 on April 19, 2026, 3:06 amIn the "its not about money" category ... and yes it is early ... but the #1 payroll (current year cash) is the NYM ($363MM) and they are on a 10 game losing streak to a 7 - 14 record. In that same vein, #4 Toronto ($282MM) is 7 - 13 on a 4 game losing streak and #5 Philadelphia ($281MM) is 8 - 12 on a 4 game losing streak.
Note the Padres are #10 ($206MM) ... source Cot's Year-end 40 man.

Quote from Randy Manese on April 21, 2026, 6:56 amRushing is not a rookie having gotten into 53 games last year with over 150 AB's. He is, however, having a great second year so far exceeding the 4 HRs and .204 BA he showed in 2025. Expect he'll regress some as the season plays out but Dodgers do know how to find and develop power bats in their minor league system.
Anybody close to that kind of potential in the Padres system? Let's see how huge right hand hitting Alex McCoy progresses this year - thought he'd be another Joshua Mears (similar build) but has far exceeded that notion after he came back from injury with Lake Elsinore last year. Got my fingers crossed that he can keep up that high contact/high exit velocity rate as well as a K rate in the low 20% area. Was old for Lake Elsinore and a little bit old for the Midwest League but if he moves to SA sometime during the year, he will have caught up age-wise. Unfortunately, not a a very good outfielder with only a so-so limited to LF or DH. #2 is probably Fountain.
