I remember seeing him play a couple times as a Gator....had star written all over him.

Giants invested heavily in Lee, who carries an 18.8M CBT.  While Merrill may have his ups and downs in his rookie year (after playing less than 50 games in AA and several of those while ill/injured), I'll take his current production compared to Lee at a cost of only .74M per year/league minimum.  Lee would have been nice at the top or our line-up but in time, I have confidence that the Merrill's overall production will consistently at least be equal to that of Lee's.

By the way, Yankee's currently not getting much out of Grisham and his 5.5M salary.  Preller got both Profar and Merrill for under a 1/3 of that cost and both have been crucial to the Padres' success so far this year.
