His stats show that he's been a tad more hittable with a tiny bit less command recently (but still very very good!) so that injury helps explain it. Needs to come back strong in late Sept and for the playoffs; he's very key to us winning.

I think the Padres are at the stage that any minor injury (one they would play through in a "normal" season) will get the player on the IL to avoid making it more serious and give the player a bit of a rest. Also, gives another player some ML game play in case a real injury to someone later makes them the next up. Basically balancing resting some while getting others game ready.

Aha. Perdomo's IL must have been retroactive to day after his last appearance (8/29). I was wondering how he was able to come off IL in less than 10 days...
Bad news on Strahm, but hopefully minor as suggested. But good news that Perdomo's injury obviously WAS minor.
His last 3 games after briefly being optioned down in mid August: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K !! Totally different guy than first half of season...

Expect Pham to be activated very soon, if not on Monday, with Ona going down. Not sure if they have to send down Lucchesi vice Williams as the 29th man for the doubleheader, but it could be that Tingler has Lucchesi in mind to start one of the Dodgers games in sort of an extended bullpen game if Lucchesi can stay up. Hadn't heard too much about Paddack's condition but doubt he would be available until Wednesday at the earliest even if it was a mild sprain. The fact that they haven't put him on the IL may indicate there is a chance he could try to go on Wednesday vice Davies. Although the Dodgers haven't yet announced their rotation, we know that Buehler is out and probably Kershaw will pitch one of the games. Gonsolin will be in there but not sure they want to put in May. They went with a bullpen day last night, so it will be interesting to see the strategies each team employs over the next 3 days.

Lucchesi sent back to the alternate site.
Speculating but since it was Lucchesi who was brought in as the 29th man he probably could be sent back without starting a 10 day option period before recall. Send down anyone else, would limit their ability to return if needed.

That's correct. The option down after a doubleheader doesn't preclude a voluntary recall in < 10 days.
What I don't know (geeky for sure..) is: is the 29th guy for a doubleheader technically up/on roster for both games, or just the 2nd game. Thought it used to be just the 2nd game.

Thought this might happen. Lucchesi and Paddack might piggyback, either tomorrow or Wednesday. Got to do a little patch and fill to set up the playoff rotation.
