Guess I could get used to the fake crowd noise.....but no “crack of the bat”?

Ball in the mit”?

I missed the beginning....tell me they explained this wasn’t how the sound would be?

Sounds as though they are testing alternatives. If they end up as the European football leagues, should not be a concern ... more a background murmur. Frankly, I barely noticed it and really did not care.

The announcers did say that the current plan is to have a lot of mics around the field to capture the on field sounds ... so maybe some blend of live sounds with background sounds. Note: not sure how the handle they “live field sounds” without some sort of delay ... players at times are saying things not suitable for TV (and broadcasting rules).

Also, heard some suggest this is for making the players more comfortable with playing in an empty ballpark ... fake sure but sound is sound and could help focus on the game ... at least that is the thought by some in the game. They are also running normal stuff on the video boards just to make this seem more “real” ... probably for the players comfort but maybe also for TV giving them something to cut to with no crowd shots.

I'm OK with the fake crowd noise...bit I "need" the real baseball noise along with it.

The bat...the glove...the umpire etc..

YIKES!!!!!!

Padres trade Cordero and Bolanos to KC for Tim Hill ... a 30 year old journeyman LHRP.

????????????????????

Was just coming to exclaim my amazement as well.

First....do we really need another reliever?

Second...is this guy any good?

Good enough to give up TWO prospects?

I mean...tell me what I’m missing here?
I was really excited to see what Cordero would finally do now that he’s “finally” healthy!

So we gain a 40 man roster spot....is that a big deal right now?

Is this about adding someone else?

I knew they wanted another LHRP in the mix .. been looking since Castillo went down.

BUT there is zero indication that this guy is even marginally ML quality ... and age 30.

I guess the Padres had a much lower opinion of Cordero and Bolanos than we did. I did not see any indication but could there be a PTNL (minor league prospect) coming to the Padres. As it is ... don’t see it.

Hill has been very effective vs. LHP and Cassavell suggests that may be aimed at the LAD LHH contingent.

I guess that supports the win now idea and every game is an elimination game.

Have anything to do with the Camp Olivares is having?

Funny it was announced right after he hit another bomb!

lol

Pretty sure Olivares was a factor and they probably like (better) what the saw in the future for Grisham and Trammell. Padres have made it pretty clear they want to improve bat to ball skills across the board .... hence, Renfroe goes ... Pham in. Grisham reportedly has good plate discipline. Draft Abrams and Hassell. Cordero's K% in the high 30s and inability to hit LHP maybe was too much to correct.

Also, a plus for Naylor who looking at him in the inter-squad games looks as fit as I have ever seen him and appears more focused. He had the rep as plus bat to ball skills and with the DH (now and a in the future) he wins the battle with Cordero.

Bolanos was all potential but never really showcased all that much in game play. Deep system with pitching so expendable.
