2026 Padre Season

Tracking our trade deadline acquisitions:

Casey Mize: 6 starts, 1-3 record, 6.67 ERA in 27 innings( average of just over 4 innings per start)

Robbie Ray: 6 starts, 1-2 record, 4.71 ERA in 28 innings(average just over 4 innings per start)

Without looking at Marquez, Giolito, and Cannings numbers, my guess is that they wouldn't be too far off those numbers

1 quarter of the way in, I'd say both trades are complete disasters.

Yet.....we still have time! Ray is a proven veteran who most likely will come around. Mize on the other hand, no real track record of success so this could be his coming out party, showing the rest of MLB what he is. And for our sakes, let's hope he comes through.

When and if we fall short of a World Championship, I'm hoping the new owners look to change how we do business, try to figure out how to win, as opposed to hoping to win.

It has been announced that Nick Pivetta will start against the Nats and Vasquez moved to the BP. Who will be the corresponding move when he is activated? Could Canning be DFA'd?

Morgan likely will be optioned.

On the 40 man could put Andujar on the 60 day or release one of the fringe minor leaguers.

Preserves Canning if new injuries pop up.

We have GOT to get a 2 game lead on the DBacks by the time we play them.

Gotta go 9-3 or 8-4 at minimum against these non playoff teams we have until LA/AZ

Also luckily AZ still has 3 with the Yankees and they have Judge back

The Phillies still have NINE games left against Atlanta,Milwaukee & Tampa Bay.

Hopefully Mil will still be fighting for NL best record by then

Need to go 10-4 to finish the season to have 90 wins for a third straight season.

Duds will most likely be resting a lot of regulars down the stretch. They can't afford to lose any more bats for the playoffs( we all assume Shohei returns but better to play it safe)

The Dodgers lost. A Padres win would move them up to 10 games back. I know it is highly unlikely the Padres will overtake them for the NL West title. But, in baseball anything can happen and Ohtani is likely out the rest of the regular season.

Anybody the story about the "The Pfold"?

The greatest historic downfall in Philadelphia Phillies history is "The Phold" of 1964, when the team blew a 6.5-game lead with 12 games left by losing 10 games in a row. [1]
The 1964 Collapse ("The Phold")
  • The Lead: On September 20, 1964, the Phillies held a 90–60 record with a comfortable 6.5-game cushion.
  • The Skid: Manager Gene Mauch overworked his star pitchers, leading to a catastrophic 10-game losing streak.
  • The Finish: The team lost the National League pennant by just one game, finishing tied for second place. [1]
The 1961 Losing Streak
  • The Streak: The 1961 Phillies team lost 23 consecutive games in a single season.
  • The Record: This stands as the modern Major League Baseball record for the longest single-season losing streak.
  • The Season: The team finished that year with a dismal 47–107 record.

Do we really want to pass the Cubs or Phillies?

If the season ended today we would go to Atlanta.

I think I’d prefer that over going to a Chicago or Philadelphia .

Unless we can pass both the Phillies and the Cubs and get the number one wildcard spot and then get a home game. Other than that, I’m happy where we are
