2026 Padre Season
Quote from BoosterSD on April 9, 2026, 11:31 amAnyone seen the new City Connects? They have been released on the Padres website. I like the blue and orange, a tribute to the 98 jersey, although they are a little too Astros if you ask me with the stripe down the pant leg. I like the colors better than the last version, although it may not be as popular as the older City Connects, thoughts?

I am OK with them ... but other than the Dia de los Muertos sleeve patch (which I like) not much interest beyond the color choices. The previous iteration was a BOLD deviation from the baseball norm and did make the Padres unique ... not so much this one.
Looked at some of the other teams new city connects ... and a bit more creative in the lettering / logos / names along with the color schemes.

Quote from WindsorUK on April 9, 2026, 6:03 pmOkay Booster, sounds like for the very reason you like them, I don't 🤣
Our Padres should NEVER wear that colour blue EVER!!! And I don't like the terribly unimaginative San Diego script on the front, nor the solid orange piping. It all looks just wrong.
I do like the sleeve logo though🤙🏽

Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 10, 2026, 3:29 amI don't really love or hate the jerseys. I like the hats and some of the non uniform stuff I've seen. The logo is cool. It seems a little uninspired to lean into the Mexicali connection again. There's so much more to San Diego that they could draw from.

I understand some peoples dislike of the blue unis. However, they switched to blue in 1991 (I was in my early 20's) plus 1998 was a great season, and they wore blue until 2020. So for the majority of my Padres fandom they have been in blue. I have come to really like the brown and going back to our start, but the blue will always have a special place in my heart.

Through 13 games this season, the Padres have used 13 different lineups.
...
The Padres have been abysmal in the leadoff spot.
Entering play Thursday, the Padres’ .369 OPS in the leadoff spot was by far the worst mark in the Majors. Their leadoff hitter has yet to homer this season. Not just leading off a game or an inning, but, like, at all.

Quote from fenn68 on April 12, 2026, 7:52 amAfter 3 starts for all 5 SP ... handicapping the race based on BBA/WHIP:
.238/1.08 ... Vasquez
.207/1.20 ... King
.234/1.26 ... Buehler
.235/1.38 ... Pivetta
.327/1.67 ... Marquez
Note that league average is .231/1.27 ... yes, still a small sample size ... top 4 are fine but Marquez is the far outlier (also yielding 5 HR is worrisome).
Given the team is winning ... probably no knee jerk reaction but with Waldron effective in EP and Canning about 3 weeks out how many more starts will Marquez get?
Padres seem to really like the upside of Marquez so likely a couple more ... but is there an advantage to get Waldron up for a couple of starts (see how he does in ML) before adding Canning and making a call on who starts and who goes to long relief (or traded/released)?

Quote from Randy Manese on April 12, 2026, 9:52 amI think that is a good idea to get Waldron up if only in long relief because Canning has been far from dominant in his rehab starts. Batters have a hard hit rate of over 70% against him along with a BABIP of 385 and a FIP of over 5.50. He's going to have to show significant improvement or possibly go on the 60 day IL if not ready when his rehab period is over. Time will sort this all out and because the Padres should start hitting better, they probably can roll with Marquez (and Buehler) for several more starts.
