He and Rengifo give us A LOT of flexibility.
From yesterday's DFR ...
Samad Taylor made his first rehab appearance and went 0-for-3 with a walk in four plate appearances. Taylor has been on the injured list since July 7 with an oblique strain.
Looking as though Taylor and Musgrove are on track to be the adds on Sept 1 when the rosters expand.
Apparently Adam is throwing pain free from 90 feet ... so maybe a few real simulations then a rehab in a week or so. A chance he could be a factor mid-Sept (at the expense of Canning, I guess).
Both Pivetta and Giolito are at the AZ Complex in some sort of throwing progression ... both appear to have a way to go before a rehab (always hard to tell with the Padres). With the add of Musgrove and probably Adam ... hard to see either returning baring one of the current pitchers getting injured.

With the play of Rengifo and the add of Hays ... not sure the Padres need (or want) to add him back. RHH DH type whereas Rengifo and Hays give defensive options ... and Bowen is plus plus defense, speed for PR.
