The more I learn about him the more I'm hoping for Brody Brecht. Having said that the draft is the one area where I still have full confidence in AJ. There's no denying he's done well taking high school kids. The real question might be if he'll actually keep whoever he grabs with the first pick around.

Looking at 1st round picks in the Preller era we can see that he's traded the majority of them. Cal Quantrill traded. Hudson Potts traded. Eric Lauer traded. Mackenzie Gore traded. Ryan Weathers traded. Xavier Edwards traded. CJ Abrams traded. Robert Hassell traded. Justin Lange traded. Dillon Head traded. That's every first round pick from 2016-2020 plus our most recent 1st rounder. It wouldn't be surprising to see Lesko or Snelling join that group. That also doesn't get into some of the previous regime's picks that he moved like Turner and Fried.

Merrill stands alone now.

You didn't include this year's #1 Kash Mayfield, so there are two of AJP's former #1 picks still in the organization, one would think that for cost control measures, AJP needs to start keeping and developing some of his prospects into major league regulars.  It appears AJP is going to keep both Salas & Devries, plus hopefully the big 3 from this year's draft in Mayfield, Boston & Fountain.  Let's hope Hightower, Neighbors & Tears develop into legit prospects also.  Go Pads!

Apparently, there is information about all of the unsigned draft picks, as today is the last day to sign your draft picks. Reviewing the information, the Padres only have one unsigned pick left over, which, by no one's surprise, is Chase Fralick, their 20th pick.

Just a surprise that the Padres have yet to announce all of the draft pick signings.  Is there any signing information of picks 11-19?

If you go to the San Diego Padres Official website, there is a Draft Signing tracker which will provide you all the information on the bonuses signed by all the signees.  Will probably not get Fralick, but worth a shot to draft.

You can't trade drafted players until after the World Series. We'll see if Mayfield survived once he's eligible.

Thanks for that info., I was not sure how long a team had to wait to trade players after being drafted.  Ownership needs to demand that AJP start keeping and developing some of these draft picks into cost controlled major league players to keep payroll reasonable, especially until a new TV deal is worked out.

Here is the link to how much each draft pick signed for including picks #11-19.

I read that the Mets never made a formal offer to Jaxon Jelkin which makes him a free agent. He was their 9th round pick, but was ranked inside the top 150 most places I looked. He's a 4th year Junior recovering from Tommy John. There might be some character concerns. He was dismissed from the team while playing at the University of Nebraska his freshman year. He went to CC college and ultimately ended up at the University of Houston. He had a very limited college workload. His stuff is supposed to be pretty good. A chance for someone to add a solid prospect.

I’ve arrived at the conclusion that character concerns should lead us to avoid a player.  This season and last serve, in my mind, as a reminder of the importance of team chemistry.
