I like the Tyson Neighbors pick. A potentially fast moving late inning arm seems like a smart choice given the way this team is currently constructed.

I was actually hoping the Padres would take Neighbors in the 3rd round, so getting him in the 4th round was a plus. Best bullpen prospect of the year and a possible future closer. Sorely needed. Fingers crossed.

#240 (8th round) … the theme continues for the Padre … Padres select Nick Wissman … a SR/Grad Student from U of Dayton … RHP … side arm pitcher with sub 90 MPH FB. Cimber - Yardley - Jacob clone?

That under slot pool has to be getting big.

#270 (9th round) … again a College SR … SS Zach Evans our of Lenoir Rhyne U.

#300 (10th round) … heard this before a College SR … 3B Jack Costello out of the U of San Diego.

Tomorrow should be interesting with what should be a decent under slot pool remaining.

Also 8 college picks that should populate LE next season … fills what appears to be a thin current set of LE candidates for next year.

According to Chris Kemp, the Pads selected 3 of their top 35 rated prospects in Mayfield, Boston & Fountain.  The drafting of so many seniors that are expected to be under slot signees, the extra money will go to Boston & Fountain.  Looks like another solid draft overall.  Chris Kemp is the biggest asset on Preller's staff.  Can't wait to see who Kemp and company target next January for the international signing period.  Go Pads!

Here is a link that has a small description of each day 3 pick .

Looks like we have signed 6 undrafted kids too.

Saw a video from Fountain about how we called his agent and made an offer...which wasn't good enough, but we eventually made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

Guess we will soon find out what that offer was.
