Padres have a decision … with Sullivan the better performer now and a lot of games to go before Campusano returns … would (should) they move on from Nola (IL ?) and add the recently signed (AAA non-roster) veteran Plawecki … not a great hitter but career in the .230 range. Don’t want a knee jerk reaction with no assurance that Sullivan’s performance will continue or Plawecki (given up by multiple teams) can provide better ML performance. Nola is at least a veteran in tune with the current pitching staff. No an easy call … and not likely to get any upgrade (at this point in the season) via trade.

Both had some big games in April but since abysmal OBP and SLG. That is not the profile for the DH role where offense is the sole objective.

Once Machado returns and Kim returns to 2B … might we see more of Odor at DH and maybe even more of Dixon given the Carpenter / Cruz production.

I know a lot of questions about the offense of Odor and Kim but in May:

Yep. It's hard to believe, but we've reached a point where Odor needs to be in the lineup while he's hot. As for the DH situation I would kind of like to see them roll with Carpenter for a while and see if he can get going with more consistent ABs. If not transition to Dixon or Cruz. Hopefully at least 1 of them can get going.

Padres called him up on May 15th … pitched May 16th (3 innings, 2 hits, 0 ER) … then nothing. That is a long time without pitching for a RP and could give him a problem when (if) he pitches again.

Sullivan saved us today with one of the best plays I've seen a Padres Catcher made in 2 decades

Somebody asked me this question...IF the Padres actually brought back Hosmer and that is a really BIG IF...seeing as they already are paying him 12 million anyway...would they have to sign him to a league minimum contract ?
