If Stammen is done which it seems likely he is. Why not find a spot for him on the major league staff so he remains part of the big league squad and has a chance of winning a ring? Would be a classy organizational move and a show of respect for what he did for the club.

His wife and kids were at the game last Wed. and the kids were so excited when he went in.

3-4 young kids in Stammen jerseys were easy to identify.:)

Very young so may not have seen him pitch much.

Feel bad for him but he's had a good career and was not making the ML roster either way.

I wouldn't be surprised if they find a job for him.

I have little doubt he will be in the Padres’ front office … he as very active in the community and as I recall the military already representing the Padres. That along with his leadership in the clubhouse, makes him a valued person for the organization.

OD (my guess here with 2 weeks to go)

IF - Machado/Kim/Xander/Jake/Odor/Carp

OF- Soto/Grisham/Engle/Dahl

DH Cruz

C- Campy/Nola

P

SP Yu/Snell/Wacha/Martinez/Lugo

Swing Honeywell/Groome

CL Hader

BP Suarez/Garcia/Crismatt/Hill/Wilson

10 day IL to start the season.. Musgrove/Pomz (both ready by mid April)

Take out Odor and add in Azocar … and we agree.

And upon the return of Tatis, do you see Azocar being optioned to AAA for full time playing and additional development?

Or do you see either Dahl or Engel released?

Personally I see Azocar sticking even after Tatis returns...to resume the same role he had last year.

Who loses their spot may depend on how they perform the first 3 weeks and the health of everyone else.

But yes...I (I know you didn't ask me but....) would think one of Dahl/Engel will not be on the 26 man on April 20th.

With Darvish pitching in relief this morning, it may be a break for the Padres.  Sasaki and Yamamoto, assuming Japan wins both, will start the next 2 games leaving the Championship game to Ohtani.  So there is a chance that Darvish doesn't start again and will be ready for the opening day start with the Padres against Colorado.  At least, that's how I'm hoping it will play out.  Would be great to see Yu on the mound to open the season since he really earned it with a consistently solid performance all year in 2022.

Melvin said Yu needs more Pitching NOT less to ramp up ..

? Do we help the Mets?.. Garcia for Vientos type move?..or nah, keep the incredible depth and ride with a deep, elite BP without messing with it...?

I think we need to concentrate on SP prospects if we make any trades.

I would prefer a deal involving Tidwell or Hamel.

Garcia has closing experience and elite stuff But is no better than a 7inning guy for us.. he can at least be ok closing for Mets.. he is 💯 not in our plans beyond 2023.. so yeah a return on someone that can help us down the line would be smart..more I think about it
