I like to get this done today.. Cueto.. is exactly what our SP is missing after 1 2 3

I agree, I will feel a lot more comfortable with Cueto as #4, and with his ground ball rate, and our INF defense, I would predict he has a very good season.

I would even give him a vesting option for a 2nd year based on innings pitched in 2023, to get the deal done.

ST 39 days away from P and C... #PUMP

Wonder if 1st week of ST Pomz is throwing free and easy close to at his norm velo wise if the A's would take him (as their closer) + Rosario for Seth Brown?

Would ease $$crunch (say if we signed Cueto) and give us a very valuable platoon bat/4th OFer (starter 1st 20) and 1B/DH option most games

Regarding Tatis Jr.'s suspension, will he be able to participate in spring training or does he have to remain completely isolated from the team until eligible to return to play regular season games?  Seems like he'll be quite a bit behind if he has do prepare on his own after missing almost all on field action last year.

Full participation in ST and can go to minors 1st 20 games...cant be anywhere near MLB clubhouse or team until after suspension is over

Sugar is pretty good defemder.. he only started 54 games all yr in the OF..at all 3 spots.

294 .344 .387 .730 not too bad in 119 ABs in Winter League.. only 23 SO.. but also only 6 BBs

Am I in the minority thinking Font (at minor/minimum if he makes 40) > signing vs Rucinski at much more $$ (A's) seems like their #'s in KBO very similar ..and I don't think Rucinski avgs 95.1 mph on his FB?

I saw something on a MLBTR chat yesterday talking about closer for OAK. He mentioned Zach Jackson and Trevor May being the current options. Pomeranz seems the better option over May, but he is making $7M this season.

Even if Pomeranz is throwing well, $10M is a big price tag for OAK, might have to sweeten the pot a little with a better prospect to get OAK to take Pomeranz, in essence selling OAK the prospect. $17M for two RPs seems out of the realm of reason for OAK. Especially since their entire payroll for 2023 is an estimated $54M from Fangraphs. OAK and SD could swap Pomeranz and May, to make money work.

Might work better with a 3 team deal, where Team A who is contending in 2023 takes Pomeranz seeing the value, Team A sends prospect(s) to OAK, and OAK send us Brown. Team A would have to be not interested in Brown themselves to make it work.

Their numbers are very similar, not sure what Rucinski throws velocity wise. But sure seems like a good deal to me, especially for lesser dollars.

I think A's total payroll is under $40mil..maybe even $30mil... lol
