Take a look at that tweet by Rosenthal again and note the date.
Interesting ... could be unrelated or could be if Lugo is signed pitcher X is in a deal.
Pitcher X could go in a lot of directions depending on the return.
The Rosenthal Tweet was a re-tweet from 2015 designed to mess with Padre fans.
I saw it and also was thinking it was current...then decided to look closer.
But...that doesn't mean AJ doesn't have a trade in the works.
I still think he is after a SP via trade.
Lug's deal includes incentives for both starting and coming out of the Pen.
So trading for a #3 SP is still plausible.
Jesus Luzardo and his FOUR years of control is my hope.
Our rotation after 2023 is still Musgrove/Martinez/?/?/?

Keep coming back to Miguel Sano as a potential POWER bat "rebound" case signing.. on the super cheap spectrum...

Thinking a little outside the box...
We take on "bad contract" from Marlins
Soler or Garcia
+ get Berti and SP Luzardo
For a package of Grisham (Marlins # 1 need is CF) + Rosario +++ With us taking on bad $$ our prospect/]player cost would be diminished thus costing us less.. Berti could split CF with Azocar for 20 games before Tatis takes over.. RF becomes Garcia or Soler with Soto in LF.. maybe the better lineup resurrects Garcia's (or Soler's) bat.. maybe not..but we get a key controllable SP piece for 23-24-25 and 26...

Not so sure.....neither hit for any avg or get on base....both K a ton.
Franmil at least we know has chemistry with the team.
What in your opinion makes Sano "much better"?

I would jump up and dance a jig if we got Soler and Luzardo for Grisham/Rosario and a couple minor specs.
I'm guessing it would cost Grisham and someone like Lesko(they'd want a young arm back I'm guessing) at minimum along with a couple more.
Soler is "only" at $9 mil and only for one season.
Luzardo for 4 years is worth a lot.
Wouldn't be a bad deal for the Marlins as they certainly have no use for Soler.

Sano's position flex 1B/3B/DH.. vs Reyes DH 💯... and Sano walks a bit more 50-60xs a season vs Reyes 30-40 BBs over a regular season worth of PA's ..

Duvall/Myers/Mancini.. offer each 1/$8 and he who signs 1st gets 1B/DH part time duty with Duvall and Myers also capable OFers.. and in an emergency Mancini can man RF... offer Voit 1/$6 (make Drury a 3/24 offer)
Then pivot to LHH.. Peralta.(Others).same 1/$8.. make Profar a 3/30 offer
Get one from each side of the plate.. explore some trades with an eye on ST (Pomz or Garcia?) Perhaps.. by the way all indications are Pomz has been throwing BPs without any set backs as he ramps up his offseason workouts
