2022 Season

PreviousPage 85 of 87Next

Ha-Seong Kim has been doing it on both sides of the ball for the @Padres‼️

His 4.9 WAR this season ranks 3rd all-time amongst Padres' shortstops in a given season.

In just five Postseason games, Kim has already scored six times

Blake Snell since the all-star break:

78 IP
20 BB
105 K
2.19 ERA
2.23 FIP

His 2.8 WAR in that time frame is second best in baseball amongst pitchers.

He’s pitching like he did in 2018 when he won the AL Cy Young.

Clearly a frustrating watch but I guess if the Padres get him to the second half / playoffs he is worth struggles in the 1st half(s) and his inability to be efficient and go deep into games.

Thankfully Musgrove and Darvish (and hopefully one more SP) have the ability to keep the Padres contenders in the 1st half while Snell struggles and then Snell can be unleashed for playoff run.

To be fair he had that injury early on and didn't get going in SD til later in the season... like for him to get going from the get go in 2023.. Buy yeah Senga sure would be a nice add for the 23 rotation

Snell’s career has had the poor first half / great second half profile … not just this year. At his age / experience might expect that to continue and live with it.

Career:

1st: 22-29 (81 games) … 4.05 ERA (if you are a playoff team … cover it)

2nd: 31-15 (68 games) … 2.68 ERA (if you are a playoff team … love it)

Maybe it just takes his body a couple of months to get in sync.

Juan Soto xBA on past 10 balls in play (Dodgers series):

.320
.290
.040
.750
.920
.470
.580
.020
.640
.110

Average: .414

Actual: .200

It's easy to see..and a great sign with 9 Wins to go

How much $ do we figure Seidler is making back on these playoff games?

Two so far…..minimum of two more incoming.

Possible World Series games?

Padres made 13.9 million off of Game 3 tickets

https://www.essentiallysports.com/mlb-baseball-news-13-9-million-in-a-day-san-diego-padres-set-a-new-high-with-massive-ticket-prices-during-nlds-game-3-against-la-dodgers-at-petco-park-la-dodgers/

I can't find the numbers for Game 4 but it is easy to assume it was just as expensive if not more expensive. Add in the parking and average $60 for every person for concessions and you are probably looking at another 3 million per game...so give or take 17 million per game not including apparel purchased from the padres store.

So I would bet $34 million for that series and at least that for the NLCS if not closer to 40 mil at least that he will make from the NLCS if they play 2 games

NLCS and WS have the potential for 2 extra Hone games and I am 💯 sure we also get a share of road games.... I think Padres would make north of $150 mil if we get to game 6 or 7 of the NLCS and probably we'll over $300mil (merch sales = huge $$) if we Win the whole fkng thing!

* overall post season revenue.. not just series..

That’s about what I was figuring.

So Seidler gets his money back for 2022 and then some…and now has the fine for going over the threshold in 23’.
