Hitting with runners in scoring position “seems” to be an issue with the Padres … by my eye test which often is clouded with unreasonable expectations. So looked at some player / league stats to see just how bad the Padres are.

1. Team BA .255 ranked 15th in MLB (league average .254) and SLG .423 ranks 14th. So, basically as a team the Padres are not good or bad but “average” … and average is NOT playoff quality.

2. Individuals as Padres:

.351.  Machado (no surprise and in the top 20 in MLB)

.304.  Myers … but limited time due to injury

.283.  Alfaro

.277.  Kim

.276.  Profar

.276.  Cronenworth

We can see a bad situation with the supposed impact bats for the middle of the order surrounding Machado. The OBP guys at the top of the order can get on as much as they want … just pitching around Machado and no one scores.

2 factors at play here...#1 we are missing this dude .292 .369 .596 .965.

#2 we play 81 at Petco so + 5%-10% (if not more) points at least and all the sudden we are a lot better..same with Colorado -5% to 10%(if not more)..

A better measure would be Road #'s where do we rank there??

This is a BS excuse. LAD just came in over the weekend and scored what, 23 runs, with what 8 HRs. Homers and runs can be scored at Petco. SD needs to put on their big girl panties and hit the ball. No excuses will appease me.
