.320 .433 .640 last 7 games
Drury is the one that needs to heat up... Bell back to clean up spot.. maybe let Jake hit 5 vs RHP..and 7th vs lhp.. Kim should lead off (Profar is super cold although he hit 2 of his last 3 balls in play very hard)
Bell needs to sustain that level against stronger pitching.
With 33 games left … I just don’t know how long they can wait to see if Drury gets his acto together and Myers is a legit alternative (plus is hot).

I pretty sure they have to submit a 26 man active roster before each series and that has to come form players on the 40 man roster on August 31 (just not sure how they handle the 60 day IL guys). Baring an injury … cannot make a mid-series change.
Don’t think any issue with not activating players without minor league options but not sure if there is any restriction on who can be activated (if on the 40 man).
That preamble leads me to … would (should) the Padres NOT activate Manaea and Hader if they continue to be ineffective and go instead with two currently (or potentially) more successful RP? Castillo and Groome or Baez?
Don’t see this as an issue with the offense.
I read guys on 60 IL can be activated at any time up to post season and be part of 26 if indeed team wants then to be.. otherwise need to be on 26 /40 by 8/31.. and if not on 26 but an IL occurs then can be activated for post season

Now it makes sense... Padres should give him as much time off as he needs man.. family 1st.. we can handle 2022 and post season just fine without him and he needs to be with his wife and kid and not 2000 miles away... Bring up Castillo and Groome (9/1) strap in and let's Ride!
Besides such a move by an organization goes a long ways in so many fronts going foward
I plan to and encourage all of you to cease and desist all Josh Hader slander related activities immediately https://t.co/Cm8zEDdQNt

Quote from BoosterSD on August 30, 2022, 12:56 pmWith Haders issues, I wonder if SD takes a look at Ken Giles. He was released by SF so he could sign with a team that has a post season chance. He is still rehabbing a shoulder issue, but according to MLBTR, even if he only signs a MiL deal, he would still be eligible for post season play. He is at the prorated league minimum, and has closer experience in the past with TOR and HOU, so used to the play off run and atmosphere.
If he is interested in SD, seems like a no lose situation for SD, MiL deal while he rehabs, if effective, he is prorated league minimum, and post season eligible.

Quote from fenn68 on August 30, 2022, 2:30 pmExcept if you looked at his AAA stats this year … still not back to his old self and would be a huge gamble at the expense of someone getting bumped off the roster. With 30 games left … not really a lot of time (and way too much risk) to unseat someone off this roster. I would go with Castillo before Giles if it got down to that.

I knew he is not back to his old self yet, but thought we had an open 40 man spot. IF we do not, then you are right and probably not worth the gamble.
A 28 man spot would only be needed if he was performing in AAA.

They have an open slot on the 40 but Pomeranz, Johnson, and Stammen are all in “rehab” stints and on the 60 day IL … so may be be ticketed for that opening in the next couple of weeks.
Actually OK with the current pen and would prefer to gamble a bit more on Hader or recall Castillo.

Yes and we probably need another lhb in the bench Beaty? Not on 40 either.. one open spot . Perhaps Scott to 60IL for 2.. But we got 3 RPs and 1 pos player coming off 60 IL not likely all... but really no one other than Sullivan C to DFA

Quote from Henry Silvestre on August 31, 2022, 11:50 amSo I am going to guess Pierce Johnson will be added to 40 and activated for the +1 P on the 28 (26 +2)... as for the position player Alfaro activated ..3 Catchers... unless knee still barking then maybe Beatty
