With all these moves that many on here all wanted, and we got, have to wonder what is the problem.
Maybe, just maybe, Hosmer was more important to the team chemistry than we gave him credit for???

Was it Einstein that suggested that doing the same thing over and over whilst expecting a different outcome was the definition of insanity?
Our window isn't shut but it's closing. At some point, someone has to push it open again. That has to be the guy with the money.

I dont think we have any room to complain about the guy with the money. we have always wanted an owner that would spend money, now we have one. Ownership is no longer the issue.

Agreed.
Seidler has been a godsend for our team.
He's the only one that can bring in a GM that'll help us win. It's time he does so.

This whole scoring runs and hitting with risp situation would be solved(and AJ addressed it),if Bell and Drury were hitting.
They were brought in to hit after Soto/Machado.
They’re there….they just aren’t producing.
We’re not gonna make the Playoffs….and certainly not win in the playoffs….if they don’t start soon.

I can’t even blame the GM this round. He acquired all the quality prospect capital to deal for trade deadline adds that were universally praised nationally as taking the Padres to the next level. This was not a set of Adam Frazier types.
The ultimate “good decision” with, so far, a “bad outcome”. That’s baseball.
Owner spending money … GM adding “All-Star level players” … Melvin a 3X manager of the year … base of “All-Star level players” in Machado, Cronenworth, Musgrove, Darvish, Snell … no easy target of “blame” here.
Kevin Acee? Mark Grant? Brown unis? SD fans? Latitude / Longitude? Good as guesses as anything else at this point.

Hopefully just the Ups and Downs of baseball with the Ups to come.
If there was any team that needed an 8 game winning streak it’s this one…….now!

We could be the NYY ..1 out away from losing their 6 straight series ..worst as in #30 record in baseball since AS ... and now only 6 game lead in the loss column..and just like that... last time they lost 6 series in a row 1995...

Mazara DFA'd [2 spots open in 40].. Azocar up to SDP... with no lhb off the bench now I look for Beaty up and Batten down
Can see Castillo added to 40.. room for Pomz as well.. and if need be can DFA Scott for Johnsons spot or move him to 60 IL..

Azocar has been doing well in EP ... plus he adds defense in the OF (plus back up CF over Myers).
I could see Beaty up for Batten ... Drury is the INF reserve and Beaty / Drury could platoon at DH (L/R). Myers becomes the wild card all around.
two open 40 man slots ... one goes for Beaty as he come off the 60 day this week (I think) and the second is ticketed for Pomeranz who should be recalled before the end of the month.
Then for Johnson (if he makes it through rehab) ... Scott appears the low hanging fruit for a DFA.

Azocar up.. Beaty soon.. and Castillo coming?... got to start somewhere and A B C always a good start
What do we do for the 3rd/4th 40 man spot Sullivan? If indeed they add Castillo.. and Beaty ..Pomz and Johnson = Scott to 60 or DFAd and Sullivan DFA'd??
