2022 Season

Obviously that can change.
I would think AJ is good till Playoffs 2023.
EDIT:He just pulled off the deadline trade of a lifetime.I would think even if it doesn't work he would be given the benefit of the doubt of having done everything he could.
Now,a couple years from now if they don't even "make" a World Series and Soto leaves and all the prospects are gone?
THAT would be a different story.
All about the relationship between Preller and Siedler and how Siedler views Preller’s ability to build a system of top prospects to go for the big trades to win NOW and that skill set being needed again as the Padres rebuild 2025-?.
Clearly Siedler supported win NOW view … and Preller delivered mega stars in Soto, Bell, and Hader … couldn’t have done better to support a strong roster. If they fail, not on Preller but on the players.

Every indication has Padres keeping Soto and Tatis together for a decade +

As we've seen that alone doesn't guarantee success (LAA) and could even prove problematic.
But I'm all for it!

I forgot where but I heard an interview with Seidler and he did not sound like someone that was not all in. There was even a mention of adding MORE if the right situation presented itself. Although most of us are conditioned to to cringe at the thought of spending money none of the recent actions have proven its our same ol' Padres. Fellas, there is a chance that we could just be getting started on this window. For the first time in history the Padres have limited the amount of available season tickets. Seidler sees the support and I think it gives him confidence to keep pushing until we get wat we came for.

Quote from fenn68 on August 9, 2022, 10:13 amTime to give Snell some real credit for his work in the past 30 days (5 starts) .... best SP ERA on the staff at 2.73. He continues his 2nd half history of coming together.
On the flip side Musgrove who was All-Star quality in the first half has had 4 starts in the last 30 days with an ERA of 7.29.
The ebb and flow of players in a 162 games schedule ... that's baseball. Would love to hit on all cylinders at some point going down the stretch.

Isnt that kind of the job of the manager, to at one point get all the guys firing on the same cylinder?
To this point, I have been unimpressed with Melvin so far. In all honesty, what has he done better than Tingler??

Yeah, I'm with you Booster.
I thought bringing in a real live baseball man would make the difference to this locker room.
Outside of using his starters to pitch more( absolute no brainer as far as I'm concerned) he's been terribly unimpressive.
Our offense has shown zero ability in any aspect( speed, power, movement on the basepaths, situational hitting, clutch hitting, average....)
Preller's biggest mistake, in my opinion, currently resides in the home dugout at Dodger Stadium. Not even giving Robert's a look in has cost us 5 years so far..... I sure hope BoMel turns it around and proves his worth. Otherwise we'll have wasted 6 year( Seidler will give him at least 2 years to prove himself) whilst local San Diego boy racks up Western division title after Western division title.....

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 9, 2022, 12:26 pmObviously Tatis is 100% healthy or he wouldn't be playing.
So maybe he's only 60% ready(timing etc.).
IMO Tatis at 60% is better than Myers at 100% so I think they should accelerate his return.
This team and it's fans needs a jump start......what better way?
Unless they are concerned about his wrist it doesn't make much sense ,because we have zero offense, for him to play another 7-10 days in Texas. If we were hitting and winning...that would be different.
Instead they probably wait for the Wash home series on the 18th?
Hope not
