2022 Season

Looking at the schedule for Aug, so far we are undefeated in August. We have 3 against LAD this in LA, and then 2 games against CLE is SD. The balance of the schedule for August is the WAS for 7, 3 in MIA, SF for 6, and KC for 3.
Havent looked at the LAD schedule, but a very good chance to make hay this month, and to overtake ATL for WC#1, and put some pressure on LAD.
Then we have 6 v LAD in Sept.
Outside chance, but still can capture the NL West.

I had us 19-10 (before trade) in August ..had us 3 and 2 vs Rockies in this series... so yeah August needs to be a Huge month for us..Sept/Oct is really hard from a schedule perspective . But that provides us a chance to end some post season dreams vs Stlouis x3 and White Sox... we also play @ Colorado x3 at the end..with expanded rosters we shouldn't burn through our BP right before playoffs and hoping we have WC#1 pretty much locked up by then..them... out new lineup + Tatis might avg 20 a game at Coors

So the dodgers are,for all intents and purposes,eliminating the Giants from any WC hopes as we speak.
The Cardinals are destined for one of the spots because,well,they just are and the fact they are in a Division with 3 horrible teams.
So in my humble opinion we are in a battle with the Phillies and Braves for the other two spots.
The Phil’s have to play the Braves and Mets plus have lost their best player.
Obviously with our “new” lineup the chances of us missing the playoffs has to be near 0…….so,see you next year Phillies!

Wish we had Musgrove and Snell going against the dodgers.
Manaea had not been good lately.
Darvish doesn’t pitch well against the,.
Clev is a crapshoot.
I predict we’re really gonna need the offense to step up to get 2 of 3 this weekend.

Going to be difficult to catch ATL for the #1 playoff slot if ATL just plays at their current win percentage.
ATL (63-43) .594 would project to 96-66. SD is 61-47 and to get to 96-66 they would have to play 35-19 ... winning percentage of a very robust .648 (not many teams doing that). Odds are long but ATL could hit that losing streak to make it easier.
As for the Wild Card, still should be vigilant ... SD at 61-47 is being pursued by STL/MILW (also battle for NL Central) plus PHIL ... all three at 57-48. SD has played 3 more games than them. They would have to win all those three and still be one game behind SD. Four teams for three playoff slots.
STL has been strong of late and MILW has shown signs of weakness ... MILW could end up being the team out even with playing NL Central teams. PHIL with all its issues seems to keep winning. For all the teams ... every win/loss may be the difference in playoffs or not.

We own the tie breaker vs Brewers having won the season series so we want StLouis to win the division ...Brewers would have to win +1 more game than us .. if we both tie we go.... same with Braves and Mets we just need to tie them in record to get the WC spot ..
After the LAD series... we have the easiest schedule in baseball for the rest of August..we need to play to our potential and stay focused.. could be a .750 winning streak for the remainder of the month or better..

SP is the strong point down the stretch … but in a tight run for the wild card … beginning to see some cracks (hopefully the improve offense helps cover) since every loss in a problem.
In the past 5 starts:
Darvish … 3-0 … 2.85 ERA
Snell … 4-0 … 2.70
Clevinger … 1-2 … 2.89
Those three are excelling and should be key in a playoff series
Musgrove … 0-3 …5.46
Manaea … 3-2 … 6.66
Manaea seems to be running out of gas … June 3.72 ERA / .217 BAA … July 5.40 ERA / .308 BAA … and we just saw his August debut.
Not sure if a “break” would refresh Manaea or who would step in as the #5 at this point … but with another 10+/- starts pending the Padres need to be on top of this … losses are losses.

Maybe a piggyback game with Morejon and Martinez? No reason those guys couldn't get us through at least 7 innings.
Give Sean an extra day between starts. We're going to need him down the stretch here.
Our offense is putrid! The 3 new guys have half our hits and most of our runs the past 2 nights. The other Preller players need to buck the hell up!
Sorry....having our assess absolutely handed to us by those douchebags to the north just doesn't sit well. Time for talk is over. Beat these guys.
