2022 Season

It’s a good thing we won yesterday cause so did everyone else we are competing with in the NL.

LA,SF,STL,ATL,PHI

We’ve played like crap the last 3 weeks yet still only 3 teams in the NL and 2 in the AL have more wins than the Padres.

Yeh, we focus on the problems with the Padres but ignore the problems with all the other teams … and they must have them since the Padres remain in the second Wild Card slot.

Long way to go … could be good or bad. We were all writing off SEA and BALT a month ago … SEA on a 13 game winning streak and is in a playoff slot and BALT has also been on a winning run and is just out of a playoff slot. On the other side, BOST was hot then cold then hot then cold and now is out of the playoffs slots.

That’s baseball.

Brewers lost

We have 7 vs Nats

3 vs Det

3 vs KC

7 vs AZ (including series + season series W today 9-2 vs Dbacks)

70 games left...thats 30% of our schedule

Next weekend could be stressful for the Padre fans as they play the 2nd best team in the NL (Mets). SF gets #1 (LAD) … so I guess we want LAD to win and push SF down in the playoff hunt.

However, the stress looks to come for PHIL playing the CUBS and STL playing CINN … and PHIL/STL are really close (in the loss column) to the Padres.

Padres with a bad set against NYM while PHIL/STL take out lowly opposition could slide the Padres out of the WC slots. Padres better have their A game vs the METS on the road.

Padres and Musgrove trying to "Get it Done" before NYM series... Oh Doctor!

That would be important on so many levels.

Locks down a top of the rotation starter for years minimizing the coming impact of the FA SP after this season and 2023. Padres don't have to worry (prioritize) Musgrove negotiations in the winter while having a firmer grasp on the CBT space to deploy elsewhere. Easier to allocate the available money to other needs.

Also, probably a morale boost to the rest of the team know (or reinforcing) the fact the the Padres will spend and are in this to win now and in the future (no rebuild coming).

Plus as I said in another post .. locking Musgrove down now makes it easier to move on from Snell now ... opening CBT space in 2022 and 2023.

Hope it gets done.

Manny just interviewed ...said Hopefully we get the young man  Soto to come play with us Hopefully.. he said he would love the weather.. repeated the Hopefully part 3 times lol...on MLB network just now

Need a Musgrove extension at some point this week.   GET r Done AJP!
