Just got this report from a friend watching today's game ...

Clevinger has nothing ... velo way down ... no bite on the breaking pitches ... I see him going on IL after this game

What are you seeing?

Velo down a bit (but not much) ... but really poor command and breaking pitches were not sharp. He did not seem bothered by any form of discomfort but his pitch count got up there fast and that may have been the trigger for pulling him before he went 5. Bottom line is that he did not look good (or at peak form) against a poor offensive team.

All season Clevinger has been in that 93-94 range for the FB ... today most were near that velocity. Before the TJ he was a 95MPH guy.

However, he was at 89 pitches when pulled and little command. Melvin couldn't risk keeping him in any longer.

With Manaea and Clev struggling a bit (1st one a lot) I can see Groome getting a Start  Sunday..

If we don't go 6-2 we may be in trouble.

We can't be fighting for our playoff lives in September.

Too many games against the dodgers. We REALLY need to make some distance between us and the Brewers/Phillies/Cardinals this next few weeks.
