Quote from fenn68 on October 2, 2022, 8:20 pmAlthough that is the rotation sequence … no way they go with Darvish on Wed and take him out of the WC series F-S-S. More likely the go with a bullpen day to keep the RP sharp and with a day off on Thursday.

Unfazed, Musgrove wouldn’t allow a hit over the next two innings, and he became the first pitcher in postseason history to throw seven scoreless, one-hit innings in a winner-take-all game.

Game 4 (in PHIL) is clearly a TBD and might depend a bit on what happened in games 1-3. All indications the rotation is Darvish - Snell - OFF - Musgrove all on normal rest.
Clevinger is the likely option but PHIL is a HR hitting team in a ballpark good for offense and two pretty good LHH power bats in Harper and Schwarber. Melvin may took at that and adjust if the Padres are up 3-0 in games or down 0-3 in games. Don’t really know the PHIL’s success rate RHP v LHP.
Hopefully Musgrove and the Padres have a dominant win in game 3 that does not tax the pen leaving a lot of RP available to mix and match in Game 4 if the starter is struggling. Just not expecting to see whoever starts to go deep.
Although don’t expect a change … Padres have not yet set the NLCS roster.

Have to think Nola C 1 and 2... off day.. 3 and Alfaro/Campy go 4th.. Nola 5th 6th and 7th..

Quote from fenn68 on October 17, 2022, 9:15 amBesides game 4 being TBD the other issue there is no OFF DAY between game 5 (PHIL) and games 6-7 (SD). Darvish and Snell would get normal rest but Musgrove would be back for game 7 (SUN) on short rest. Hope we have won by then and have Musgrove set for the WS opener … otherwise Snell has to be at peak so as not to tax the pen and have fresh arms for Sunday.
Also, have to consider games 3-4-5 are in PHIL in late October … a decent chance of rain (rainout) that could alter the rotation.
