Padres sent down Northcraft (so down to 13 pitchers) ... most already overworked and a game tomorrow afternoon in Chicago.

Was surprised they sent down Northcraft today and recalled Marcano for INF support until realized they are not playing Machado ... even as the DH. Machado must be hurting more than most think.

Understand less is bringing in Musgrove (who was scheduled to start Monday in Chicago) in a game that is a real long shot to rally while taking one of the better starters out against the Cubs. Messes with the starting rotation and maybe messes with Musgrove's prep sequence.

I should be interesting to hear Tingler's (and probably the front office's) rationale.

And how in the world they get out of Snell's contract! The fact Tingler didn't push him past 3 innings, given our pen situation, speaks VOLUMES! At least from a managerial standpoint- he DOES NOT want that dude out there.

How much longer is he under contract for?
