Hey Coniff, why do you say there are no best places to eat in Peoria?

I don't want to speak for anyone else, but in my experience the area around the ballpark there is pretty heavily commercial with national or regional restaurant franchises. Not really a ton of local flavor.

True, it is heavily populated with some chain places, but at least the Texas Roadhouse across the street from the Complex has a painting of Sterling Hitchcock in the bar area. Still some good eats at those places though, and they have added a Giordellis(spelling?) pizza place as well.

Mexican place across the street was pretty good I thought.....can't remember the name though.

Probably was Abuelos or Ajo Als, depending on which street you crossed. Of course the Salty Senorita backs up to the outfield of P4 practice field.

2020 adds into the mix Richards (2 years) and Lamet (5 years) both could be mid to upper rotation arms.

Well, entering 2020 Richards will only have 1 year & Lamet "only" 4 years control...

Because the restaurants in Peoria are awful. They cater to 13-year-old travel baseball teams and 72-year-olds from Alberta, so you get a ton of crappy chains that focus more on fast service and reliably mediocre (and generally heavily-processed) food.

There's one not-terrible Mexican place, a third-tier island bbq place and an Italian spot that's fine if nothing interesting. And after that, Chipotle, In-N-Out and Chic-Fil-A (depending on your preferred vice) are the next best options unless you just want to sit in the air conditioning of Red Robin and drink five gallons of iced tea.

That picture is not today, raining all day today.

Indeed. I was just saying that we need to re-take a bunch of general stock images of the complex when we're out there...

Abuelos may have been it.

But I've been away from the Southwest for a long time....so i may not a great judge of Mexican anymore.

Its actually 14U travel club teams since 13U plays on 80 ft base paths and 55 ft mounds. 🙂 . I cant tell you how many of those games I have called on the back fields of the Peoria Sports Complex, and the other ST facilities in the Valley. How far do you venture away from Bell and 83rd? Do you need some suggestions for places outside of P83? I have to admit though, I do love me a steak at Texas Roadhouse, and Karly and Jesse take good care of me when I go to eat.

Thats more of a nuevo Mexican mix, not the traditional Mexican you would think of when thinking of SD Mexican food.
