I take that back, Cassavell reporting CY likely headed for long relief.
With a Rotation of: Richard, Lamet, Perdomo, Mitchell, and Ross
Bullpen of: Hand, Yates, Makita, Stammen, Young, that leaves two more spots...who does everyone have?
I was going to say that Chris Young would be a great long relief guy and spot starter if needed and lo and behold that seems to be the direction this is going
This is not the Braves rotation of Glavine, Smoltz, Avery and Maddox of years gone by but the Padres seem to be better at the plate, on the bases and in the field so this could be a better than average rotation and I think the Pads are going to surprise some people this year as it's only getting better
Let's light this candle and get going

Quote from Commie on March 25, 2018, 4:21 pmLamet left with an elbow issue per MLBN. They may well need CY, Erlin or Lyles in the rotation.
Been a great Spring injury wise so far. Law of averages strikes.

Quote from sportwarrior on March 25, 2018, 5:20 pmReally hoping it isn't serious, but in any event I think we should expect a DL stint to be safe. His last fastball was clocked at 93, so at least we didn't see the dramatic mid appearance drop in velocity that can often accompany a serious elbow issue.

It is not believed there is structural damage, but Lamet will start the season on the disabled list. The hope is he will miss only the season’s first month."
Per Kevin Acee. I was hoping for less than a month, but I suppose that indeed is "minimal" when it comes to elbow twinges.

Quote from 3fingersplit on March 25, 2018, 7:07 pmThis has 60 day written all over it.....threw his "wipe out" slider and grabbed his elbow
MRI will confirm but I have a bad feeling about this one.....I so hope I'm wrong
That is why pitchers are such a high demand position.....every pitcher is one pitch away....always
Doggone it

Quote from Ben Davey on March 26, 2018, 9:13 amNo TJ, just will miss 4-6 weeks with an elbow strain. Of course we've seen before a set back after a setback after a setback, so who knows.
Interesting developments
Strahm to DL. He is healthy but needs to build up innings. Is still only able to throw an inning every few days.
Rea is a candidate for 60 day DL. He started throwing off a mound again last week, but no reason to rush him. He will probably stay in Peoria for a month then head to rehab in May (build innings).
This likely means Capps makes the team (out of options)
All signs are pointing that CY will make the team, although I am not sure why.

Quote from WindsorUK on March 26, 2018, 9:17 amCY becomes starter number 5?
We may have the oldest rotation in baseball.
Still, be fun to have CY, Ross, and Clayton dealing for our Pads. A last hurrah, if you will, before the plethora of young guns come up and dominate.
