2018 MLB DRAFT

Was looking at some video of Reiss Knehr from Fordham, our 20th round pick.  He's got some nice movement on his fastball.

Is there video of him hitting 92+?

Not that I'm aware. It was towards the end of season from the notes.

Judging any picks within hours is foolish and short-sighted.

Welcome to the internet. You must be new here!

Unless the Gun is off on the video I linked or maybe that was an older video?

Big difference between 86-87 and 92+.

Guess we'll have to see for ourselves later this summer or next year.

Any velocity reading for any high school pitcher taken from anything other than one of the high-profile scouting showcases should generally be considered something in between "pretty unreliable" to "not worth paying attention to."

That's not only because a lot of the information that's put out is just flat wrong, but because growth, mechanical changes, new coaching, and even just fluke hot days can cause pretty wildly varying velocity for an 18-year-old just coming into his own.  (Which also applies to the data from the showcases, but at least a lot of those kids are more developed...)

In case you didn't see it on the front page, here's Travis's great summary of Day 3 strategy.

David, will we be getting updates on any signings?

Yep. And we've got follow-up coverage with a few sources including Mark Conner.

8th round RHP Steven Wilson  and 9th round 2b Luke Becker both sign.
