Prospect Watch: Nick Solak got the scoring started in the game by hitting his 14th home run of the season. Solak later came up with a game-tying RBI single in the seventh before being pinch-run for. The 31-year-old is hitting .311 with an .873 OPS in 91 games for El Paso. … JP Sears made his fourth start since being sent down from San Diego. The lefty needed 44 pitches to record five outs and threw nearly as many balls (21) as he did strikes (23). Since returning to El Paso, Sears has allowed 11 earned runs on nine hits and six walks in 7.2 innings. … Dustin Harris brought the Chihuahuas back with a bases-loaded triple to reclaim the lead. The Padres released Harris earlier this month, then resigned him two days later. The 27-year-old is hitting .369 with a 1.100 OPS this month from the leadoff spot. In 29 games with El Paso, Harris has 10 stolen bases and 12 strikeouts. … Continuing his rehab assignment, Samad Taylor was initially given the day off. He came on late as a pinch runner and was immediately erased on a double play. He came up in the ninth, singled, and then was immediately picked off. Since starting his rehab assignment, Taylor is 4-for-13, with a home run, walk, stolen base, and five strikeouts.

Prospect Watch: Braedon Karpathios continues his sizzling hot August. Karpathios singled, doubled, and scored one of the Missions’ two runs. In 18 games in August, Karpathios is hitting .357 with seven doubles, four home runs, and a 1.080 OPS. Karpathios did strike out once today and has now struck out 14 times over his last 26 at-bats. … For the fifth straight start, Ian Koenig was able to finish six innings. This was his third quality start in four starts this month. The 25-year-old did not walk a batter and has four walks and a 3.51 ERA over 25.2 innings this month. … After having six hits over the last two weeks, Tirso Ornelas has his second three-hit game this series. Over the last two months, Ornelas has hit just .230 with two home runs in 157 at-bats. He will hope the recent hot stretch will help him end the season on a high note. … Four games into his callup with the Missions, Justin DeCriscio has at least one hit in all four games and he now has his first Double-A extra-base hit. The former 10th-round pick was hitting .259 with a .758 OPS with the TinCaps before his promotion. In four games, DeCriscio is 5-for-14, with a double, two walks, and two stolen bases.
