SS ... Marwin Gonzales is (will be) way over priced as a super utility guy ... not a SS anymore. If they don't (and they likely won't) get Galvis to return on a short deal understanding he will be a part-time player when Tatis arrives ... sounds as though it will be Urias / Garcia until then.

Profar (who I have liked for some time) would be an interesting play at this time. He can play SS and slide to 3B when Tatis arrives. He was good (not great) last season. Does not earn all that much. The down side is only 2 years control but likely Texas will demand a premium return since ... for now ... he appears to be ticketed as their 3B with Beltre a FA (and if he returns the DH). Texas wants SP (Preller wants SP and is not giving up the better prospects) not sure if a second tier SP prospects fits Texas. Texas also wants a 2019 CF ... Preller is not giving 4 years of Margot for Profar and not likely Texas is all the interested in Jankowski (although an outside chance of Jankowski plus a SP not Top 100 level). With Andrus not opting out and Odor on a long term deal, Texas may feel comfortable to move 2 years of Profar to set up going to their new ballpark in a  2021?

I wonder if they would consider Cordero a CF, and if so, then would you try and build a trade around Cordero and Profar. If you want to improve OBP via an OF, you could look into Choo depending on what you think of Choos defense in the OF. Choo was DH in more than half the games in which he played.

Choo will be 37 next season under 2 more years at $21MM per season and truly bad when he can get on to the field (vs. DH). Add that would mean dumping all but one of the current corner OF options ... not a long run (or economic) strategy.

Cordero for Profar is interesting ... not sure the Pads would give up 6 years of Cordero's upside for 2 years of Profar. On the other side, Cordero is not (yet) a good defensive OF let alone in CF so don't know how well that fits Texas' need.

As much as we need offense I would cringe at losing 6 years of Corderos' "potential".

I  think if he could play a 150 game season he still has the chance to "break out".

That athleticism/power combo is scary to give up on too soon IMO.

I'd offer Margot for Profar in a heartbeat.

Profar comes with a pedigree( yet to be realized) and Margot has done nothing more than replacement level for 2 years.

It would obviously take more than Manny to get Profar but it might be a good place to start.
