With his first HR, this kid gets his own thread 🙂

Slash now now at 382/.400/.529 at Tri-Cities ... kid needs to walk more!  Oh, wait ... he had a 27/12 BB/K ratio in 122 ABs at AZL!

He seems better than Cedric Hunter, right?

He's officially in my Top 30 ... headed to Top 10!

I'm really hoping he and Edwards stay together all the way through the system.

I haven't seen them play but Edwards for sure is "my" kind of player.

Get on base and run!

A comment at minorleagueball.com provides an alternative perspective ... that he's more Luis Durango than we might hope ...

I've seen him once, didn't stand out.

Five PA’s, one ball out of the infield and that was a ducksnort single to center.

Spent last season in the DSL and hit .206.

91 career hits and 13 XBH which is really bad, especially for a guy whose best tool is speed.

Pitching at this level isn’t good and the defense much better, he’s just a guy taking advantage of his environment.

If my math is right he has just enough PA’s to qualify for the AZL batting title, so there’s his feather.

Seems a bit early and harsh to draw those conclusions after "I've seen him once" considering he is an 18 year old in his first year stateside. He may end up being right but can't understand why he would even write that comment at this point.

For the record Marcano is putting up a .474 SLG this year across both AZL and NWL ... and he is about 3-4 inches taller and already about 20 pounds heavier than Durango ... so maybe a bit more to work with as he develops.

One of 3 Padres' farm boyz to make the AZL All-Star Team ...

... along with Nick Gatewood and Tom Colletti.

(NOTE: Under the heading of "Where are they now?" ... Carmelo Martinez was AZL Manager of the Year!)

Ryan (Vista):

What are your thoughts on Owen Miller and Tucupita Marcano? I know neither have future All Star potential but Miller reaches AA last year and Marcano has just kept hitting.

Kyle Glaser: I'm not comfortable putting a hard cap on either ones potential. Both have such a feel to hit that no one should be shocked if they are everyday big leaguers in a few years, Miller before Marcano, obviously

From today's Daily Farm Report ...

Tucupita Marcano is also finishing the month strong.  Marcano collected his first career four-hit game, and has reached base safely in eight straight games.  Since the streak began, Marcano has raised his OPS from .466 to .681 (above league average of .670)

Thanks for the continued updates LynchMob.

I'm rooting for him just for the fact that I would like to see that name written in a mlb lineup

Matthew Wines: Really impressed early on with Edwards and Marcano. Do you see them keeping this obp skill set as they progress ? It’s desperately needed in the Majors. Also do you see Edwards moving to CF soon ? Thank you

Eric A Longenhagen: No idea when X might move or if he will, I think both these guys have premium OBP skills
