Quote from Henry Silvestre on June 11, 2018, 6:46 amI can see Yates..Stanmen ..Pirela..and ASUAJE moving...Hand staying..type of deadline even if we are in it..Maton and now Castillo seem to have "it" to replace those 2..and if they crumble under the pressure then at least AJP has added knowledge...if they thrive..then a very low cost highly effective BP is in place for #playoffs19or20....and maybe 18 (a small glimmer of hope..) As far as returns I like OF Greg Allen as a comp of MLB ready talent piece or 2 we can get in return...if a young controllable SP like Bundy is made available if I am AJP compete or non compete I may want to inquire on cost..a top contender might prefer a more established Vet..thus lowering the cost a bit now (vs off season) and we might be able to be a partner in a 3 way ..or straight up buy a guy like Bundy...Sellers with pocket change to make a SMART controllable move if it presents itself

Quote from Henry Silvestre on June 11, 2018, 6:51 amAlso I know is small sample size..But man Renfroe is leading club in OPS..and that .351 OBP is making me warm and fuzzy.... Looking like a Kris Davis clone.. Is he part of the future now or is his value reaching new highs and is now the time to move him?...I've always liked him and hope he is in RF for a decade..(as long as he keeps this up he should be)

Quote from MrPadre19 on June 11, 2018, 9:30 amHe sure looks like a different hitter since his return......could he be?
I'm afraid it's just a hot streak and the "real" Renfroe will return soon enough.

What Renfroe has earned is healthy skepticism that maybe 150-200 AB post return will help me improve my view of his potential. We can hope though.
Should get the ABs with Myers / Cordero out and, frankly, Reyes not taking charge of a starting role.

Heard during the broadcast yesterday that TGJr was saying how Renfroe has opened his stance and is keeping his head more still during the AB and swing, so in TGJr opinion is giving him a better view of the ball. Since his return, he does seem to be laying off some pitches that he used to chase, so maybe there is a chance that he is improving.

Quote from fenn68 on June 18, 2018, 6:28 pmWell the trade window has opened (a bit early) as Washington deals for Kelvin Herrera from KC ... his was generally considered the best RP option on the market. Keep in mind that Herrera is a FA after the season so the return I guess reflects that plus Wash picks up the rest of his 2018 salary (probably important to KC).
KC did not get a major piece in return .... Washington's #10 and #11 and another player. Might set the level of return for FA to be trade candidates (e.g. Ross).
More importantly, should take Washington out of the bidding for any of SD's RP cutting down the buyers to play against each other. Of course one could argue with the top RP out of play ... the value of the SD RP goes up. Cup half full - cup half empty.

Quote from MrPadre19 on June 24, 2018, 7:13 amApparently the Padres are interested in 3B Mariel Franco from the Phils.
With them being buyers and in need of bullpen arms....maybe a deal is in reach?
Phils would need to find another “better” 3B elsewhere to replace him ......but could package Franco and another prospect for someone like Hand.
They have plenty of good young rms.....But I would prefer to get De Los Santos back actually.
Franco and De Los Santos for Hand....is that enough?
Or a different arm?

Not a fan of Franco ... so any trade for him is questionable. He turns 26 this August (not exactly a prospect any more) ... only 3 more years of control ... poor defensively (Phil at one point want to move him to 1B) ... and from some accounts the Phils are a bit tired of him while actively looking for a 3B replacement. Seems more like Philly is trying to dump him for what they can get more than holding him out as a big trade chip.
Franco being a key return for Hand seems way out of balance ... maybe closer to Stammen for Franco even up (maybe toss in Villanueva or Spangenberg).
Basically I would pass a a deal for Franco. Hand should yield better (or don't trade him).

Quote from Cptjack on June 24, 2018, 9:58 amHe had a good half season a few years back and has been utter trash since. If he weren't a throw in on a larger deal I would be deeply concerned with Preller's ML roster building.
