With the BP far and away the deepest group on the roster...trading from it to secure a Starter may be the thing to do if we expect to make the playoffs or win a playoff  series

We can trade one or more of these players: Hart, Vasquez, Morgan, Peralta, Waldron, Canning just name a few.

"Maybe" Peralta but he isn't exactly cheap for a 6th-7th inning guy.

Morgan is much better than any value he has with another team...so would be selling low IMO.

If any team wants any of the others it will be just to shed their salary or for Int pool $ most likely.

None of those will get us anything to improve this team

No chance BOST bites on that deal ... or any deal to get Bogaerts back. They have an elite SS (Franklin Arias) prospect arriving in a year or two. Not taking any SS that has seven mediocre / bad years ahead of him. BOST is out of both Story and Yoshida's contracts after next season freeing up a lot of money to "good" signings.

The reports I have seen is that they want a SS on a short term deal until the prospect arrives.

Side as poorly as Bogaerts is playing (and way under his contract) .... not going to get anything useful for him even if they could fined a taker (and Padres eat 75% of his contract) ,,, then are they better off with SONG at SS while still paying Bogaerts?

Do the Padres even have a blue chip SS prospect in the minors?

I would not waste my time (or assets or money) trying to move Bogaerts ... just leave him at SS and bat him 9th ... and focus elsewhere.

I would not even consider a Miller trade unless the Padres are out of the playoff run (not likely).

However, for 3+ years of Miller need A LOT more than that proposal. Both Dominguez and Jones have not lived up to their early prospect projection and "older" so just "guys" now. LaGrange is a good piece (lower part of Top 100) but need better. I don't get interested in a deal unless it includes a elite SP prospect near ML ready (e.g. Anderson SEA) backed up by multiple plus prospects ... not really interested in hitters unless a truly blue chip ML ready backed by quality SP pieces.

IF Preller entertained a trade with the NYY he would push for Lombard (21 year old INF in AAA) ... NYY #1 prospect / MLB #21) who he liked during his draft year ... think SS to be converted to LF? Alternatively, NYY #3 prospect / MLB #73 Elmer Rodriguez (RHSP, 22, AAA) backed up by at least two other premium prospects. Thinking a package headlined by Hernandez and LaGrange might get his interest.

Actually, Miller who for his talent is really low cost and controlled for 3+ years ... no need (desire) for Preller to move him even if out of the playoff race unless it is in a blockbuster deal since could still trade him down the road.

Padres are in the playoff run and, in my view, given the poor SP after King ... Miller is critical to make the playoffs (and progress at all). Actually so is the entire bullpen.
