Trade Deadline

PreviousPage 12 of 16Next

Boston traded their #2 prospect to get Ruschman ... steep? Highlight the poor catching market ... so Campy may have more value that some think.

Side, did hear Dennis Lin say that several teams made inquires about Fermin even when he was at the depths of his season. (my guess not offering anything of value).

This is a good deal even if Ray is 34. Only two MILBers given up.

Our ML players untouched and Milb Salas, Mayfield, and Wideman, to name a few, untouched.

This is what our rotation is going to look like: King, Ray, Pivetta, Musgrove, Buehler

Just under 3 hours left

Ruschman to the Red Sox ... top C off the trade market

Detmers to the Cubs ... will be interesting to see the price

=============================

Wonder if the this add to the hot Red Sox lights a fire to the NYY ... and they get more aggressive in trying to deal for bullpen help (SD can play with that).

Not sure SD can live with Fermin / Duran as their catching duo and deal Campusano BUT if the return is a compelling SP option ... maybe.

Despite a report from Michael Cerami of Bleacher Nation, ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reports that the Cubs have not acquired Angels lefty Reid Detmers.

It looks as if the Cubs have changed directions are trading for Braxton from MIA, could mean that Detmers is in still in play for SD!?!

Not a big fan of giving up Hernandez. But Ray is an unexpectedly big boost to the rotation. It'd be nice to add another piece or two.

Would think so ... low salary with two more years of control. He is basically and "average" SP (middle rotation) BUT as been eating innings (5-6 per start) but that works for the Padres right now and should not cost a ton in prospects. Given the LAA roster ... not much chance of them contending in his remaining two season so they should like to flip him for some longer term value.

Isn't Mize from DET (rental) still a potential target?

For Detmers, I could see giving up LHSP Mayfield, OF Wideman, and two other lower ranked prospects, such as OF McCoy, and C Madonna or another lower level arm.

Will the Mets give away Senga?  If they eat his contract, the prospect level goes higher for the remainder of this season, say OF Wideman.

In a stretch playoff run would not gamble on Senga ... even for free. He has been a disaster this year and not stretched out to be a SP ... has been basically a 1-3 inning RP most of the season. Off season maybe different.

Looking for a SP I can rely upon for 5-6 innings with at least an "average" ERA (near 4.30). Want more ... sure but not another Canning, Marquez, Giolito.

Casey Mize to the Pads!  What was the cost???
